"Big" Bob for Matt Skelton

Post by bennie »

Aussie "Big" Bob Mirovic challenges Matt Skelton for the Commonwealth heavyweight title on June 5 at York Hall. Mirovic challenged Danny Williams for the same title last year and was stopped in four exciting rounds.

I thought Mirovic was noew tied to Don King?

Don has been using the tactic of signing up just about every heavy in the top 50, a tactic he often uses when he loses direct control of the heavyweight crown/big players.

I think you're thinking of Kali Mehan, Terry.

I would have prefered Long but Mirovic likes a rumble himself so this could be fun for a couple of rounds.

At least someone with a bit of size on him !

Skelton has no power really and Bob is a big fat truck !

Not sure if "Big" Bob Mirovic has done anything to deserve a second shot at a real title, but from a fans point of view this may turn out more entertaining than Skelton V Long. IMO.

Mirovic is no test at all.

He was outpointed by a geriatric Joe Bugner.

Just because Danny W was sleepwalking against him doesn't make Fat Bob a fighter.

If Skelton doesn't win in 4/5 it's a very bad show.

Williams did beat Mivrovic in 4 rounds, Mehan was stopped in 1 round?

Come on, Big Bob lost to Bugner - Yes Long has a few shocking defeats, but IMO I think Long vsSkelton is far more competitive than Skelton vs Mivrovic.

Mivrovic looked okay for a few rounds against a very out of sorts Williams, so did N'Gou. Long battled Williams for 12 hard fought rounds.

In his defence Bob Mirovic has improved since his loss to Joe Bugner. He also recetly took Valuev the distance. He will put up a good fight for as long as it goes.

Anyone know if this fight would be shown in Australia?

After giving Mirovic a very low blow and the ref not giving Mirovic any time to recoup. Yeah he won. :TU:
