Make or break for Gary Buckland at this level.

Seemed intent on going back down to super featherweight after being outclassed by Gavin Rees, but looks like a few quid from getting the commonwealth strap in a loaded domestic division has won outl

Will this bill be online - interesting to see tony conquest back also.

When a prospect has a record like Commey it's hard to tell how good they are. From looking at boxrec records he finished 12 of his first 13 opponents early and has gone 7 or 8 rounds last four fights & still stopped them.

That could be a sign that he's finding it more difficult as they up the opposition (as it should) & also that he still carries power later on.

Buckland has fairly decent whiskers though so the longer the fight goes the better chance he has.

15 wins against local duffers, 1 win against career super bantam Hughes and another against feather fisted feather Truscott is not telling us anything. Buckland won't be outsized (by as much at least) so it's a good test. I'm not expecting to see the next Azumah Nelson to be honest. Should be interesting to see what this fella has though, but there is nothing on that CV that should be keeping Buckland awake at night.

Hard to gauge if 15 knockovers in Ghana is any better than 15 knockovers in Latvia/Belarus, for every monster with a great KO record, there's 10 unprepared powderpuffs who sh1t it as soon as the punches come back at them. Harsh?

Buckland will give his all so who knows who wins, I think Commey maybe slightly overhyped, but if he KO's Buckland we can see why Matthews ducked him.

Even Commey's promoter has stated he isn't really a dynamite puncher; rather a solid puncher but with a great workrate who tends to wear down opponents.

The Buckland fight will be a good one!

Truscott seemed to be fighting on mostly level terms until Commey hurt him in what became the last round of the fight and got the stoppage.

Interestingly Truscott was able to force him back many times during the fight despite not being in the slightest heavy handed.

Commey seemed to work well off the ropes at times however but certainly did not look a world beater although Paul has long been a better boxer than his record might indicate, so its hard to judge Commey really.

Not sure what the scores were officially but if you were scoring it fairly it was pretty close I would guess.

If Buckland still has his desire and love for the game it will be interesting to see what happens Saturday because if Truscott can send him backwards so often, Buckland could have some success.

Good fight though.

To be fair, Truscott is a very well schooled kid.

Totally agree I have always like him and that was kind of the point I was making really, he seemed to me to be on a par with Trussy and I felt perhaps wrongly
that it was really only the difference in weight of punch that brought Commey the win, hard to tell on just one fight but he certainly has ability.

177-111 , 117-111, 118-110

All in favour of Commey! I bet a few people weren't expecting that..
