Friday Night Fights at Shelton, Washington 8-01-2014

Post by ddtfamily »

I attended Friday Night Fights at Shelton Washington 8-01-2014; these are the results of the not-yet-reported undercard bouts as announced by the ring announcer (my comments added).

Wale Omotoso KO win @ 1:09 into the 8th round over Eduardo Flores

Flores fought hard but I had Omotoso winning every round at the time of the stoppage. The referee was Paul Field (http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_ ... at=referee). The bout was scheduled for 8 rounds.

Joaquin Chavez Split Decision win (8 rounds) over Luis Cruz

Close fight with lots of momentum changes. Chavez dropped Cruz in the first round. The referee was Paul Field (http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_ ... at=referee).

David Grayton KO win @ 2:09 into the 2nd round over Eddie Cordova

Cordova is an "opponent" level fighter who gives a good effort but he was not at the same level as Grayton, who dominated from the start. The referee was Paul Field (http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_ ... at=referee). The bout was scheduled for 6 rounds.

Juan Funez vs. Marcelo Gallardo: Majority Draw (4 rounds)

This was a rematch of their bout at this same venue on 1-24-2014. Gallardo seemed to be the more effective aggressor in 3 of the 4 rounds but the judges scored a majority draw, with 1 judge scoring it 39-37 for Funez. The referee was Jeff Macaluso (http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_ ... &cat=boxer).

Leduan Barthelemy KO win @ 1:21 into the 1st round over Guadalupe Hudgens

Referee reached count of 10 when Hudgens failed to rise after receiving what many in the crowd felt was a low blow. The referee was Ray Corona (http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_ ... at=referee). The bout was scheduled for 4 rounds.

Gervonta Davis KO win in the 1st round over Hector Lopez

According to the ring announcer, this was Hector Lopez's pro debut, meaning this is not the same Hector Lopez currently "linked" in the entry for this bout. This Hector Lopez was said to be a local kid, fighting out of Yakima, Washington. After an initial exchange at the bell, Davis overwhelmed Lopez, who dropped to the floor and went into a "turtle" position, not rising until long after the referee reached a count of 10. I did not hear the exact time, but it was approximately 1 minute into the first round. The referee was Jeff Macaluso (http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_ ... &cat=boxer).

Wilky Campfort TKO win @ 2:57 of Round 4 over Milton Nunez

Nunez started strong, possibly winning the first round, but was defeated soundly the rest of the way. The referee was Jeff Macaluso (http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_ ... &cat=boxer). The bout was scheduled for 8 rounds.
