Ernie Vigh's fight with Joe Bennett in 1947 was not held at the Jerome Stadium. It was held at the Jamaica Arena. The Gino Buonvino-Steve Ketchel bout held on the same day and credited on Boxrec as being at the Jamaica Arena was actually held at the Jerome.
If anyone has a detailed account of the Vigh-Bennett bout I would like to read it.
Also, Vigh fought Butch Lynch at the Labor Temple in Newburgh on December 8, 1939 and knocked him out in 2:33 of the first round. Vigh weighed 158, Lynch 160. Vigh knocked him down three times, knocking him out of the ring twice. The bout was scheduled for six rounds and was promoted by the Moose Lodge.

Re: Ernie Vigh
Some wire-reports have the Buonvino fight taking place at the Jamaica Arena, while others report it for the Jerome. What's your source here?
Re: Ernie Vigh
This is the weird thing that is confusing me: The Brooklyn Daily Eagle (which is the only half way detailed account I can find of the Vigh-Bennett fight) lists it as Jamaica. The same paper lists the Buonvino fight as taking place at the Jerome. However, the Long Island Star has a detailed first hand account of the Buonvino fight written by Jack Lang and states it took place at the Jamaica yet the same paper has a brief "results" section literally right next to Lang's article which states the Buonvino fight taking place at the Jerome. I'll be honest with you, until I found the article in the Daily Eagle (which is relatively brief) I wasnt even convinced that the Vigh-Bennett fight took place. The result went out over the wires but the Eagle is the ONLY New York metropolitan area paper I can find with a result for that fight. The fight itself had problems prior to coming off. The original opponent was replaced with a sub and then the sub was replaced with Bennett (if Bennett and Vigh actually even fought). Id like to see a detailed first hand account of the fight myself.
