who wins? BROOK VS KHAN?

Post by KingMazzzza »

could see it being a huge british fight and a exciting build up. with a world title on the line too. i think khans speed would be the factor pinching a UD but could see there being a few knockdowns and rocky moments for both fighters!!

I think its the same old story with any Khan fight. He will start better than Brook and be on top, landing clean, sharp punches. After the first 3 or 4, if Brook is still there, things will start to get tougher for Khan. I think Brook has more than enough power to stop/ hurt Khan and is a smart enough fighter to find Khan and get his shots off. I can see Khan lunging into some big shots trying to get his own combinations off and finding himself in trouble. I'd like to see Khan fight at least once more under Hunter before I would be confident enough to pick him against many world class opponents.

If I was picking today I'd be a lil split. I think Kell is gonna be a lil overrated just like Shawn was after destroying Paulie now & I like Amir's speed & boxing ability in this fight & idk if he needs to be too concerned with Kell's power to knock his ass silly like cats been doing. I think I'd lean slightly towards Amir, but I think its competitive/close.

Brook has better boxing ability than Khan. Khan is not that great of a boxer, he's just super quick. A really good boxer wouldnt of got caught flush with the left hook that Garcia poleaxed him with.

True, and as quick as he brags about being, even much slower fighters don't have any trouble finding him. Right now I would pick Brook over Khan by narrow UD or mid to late KO.

Average boxers don't win Olympic medals unless they're at home, the Collazo fight showed what he's capable of when he boxes, his problem has always been that he lets his heart rule his head and doesn't think about what he's doing. When he slows himself down, thinks, doesn't try to fight at 100 miles an hour and rush in without moving his head he's a fantastic boxer, the head is the problem, give him another fight with Hunter, the difference between the Diaz and Collazo fights was remarkable, it looked like they'd ironed out a lot of the flaws and got him thinking, if that continues he beats Brook comfortably, if it doesn't then he outboxes him before walking onto one and getting sparked.

I think one of the things that are keeping Khan from getting the big fights (other than his recent record) are his style where he uses headlocks, pushing the head down laying on his opponent, pushing, etc. Not many boxers want to put up with tactics like that, and it seems there are very few refs out there with balls enough to penalize him for it.

It would do his career a lot of good if he could avenge the KO loss to Garcia, since Garcia is coming up to 147.

I said on another thread, a lot will come down to how much khan has learned and developed under Hunter.

I believed at the time that Hunter was the perfect man to take Amir on board, but for it to work, Khan must be genuinely open to learn, to change and develop

The Molina and Diaz fight did little to convince me he had fully bought into his new teachings, but it's been a couple years he's been with him now and he was showing real signs of taking a new approach against Collazo. Of course Collazo isn't the test to prove he has what it takes to beat the very best in the welterweight division, but it did show he was listening, something many thought he was too arrogant to do

I rate Kell Brook, but think Khan has the natural physical attributes combined with the talent to be too much for him.
The only issue is; has Khan conquered his demons?
the only test will be to stick them in the ring together but I just think the inactivity might have been the perfect time to allow Hunters methods to fully sink in.

I think regardless of how far he's come on, he'd open up an early lead on Brook.
And if Khan stays disciplined and fully buys into Hunters game plan, I'd fancy Khan to cling on to that lead to the end win on points.
If he doesn't, it's anybodys guess

Khan looks strong at 147 along with his speed. He seems to have learned his lesson frm the Garcia fight, I think he should be favored.

To really tell how far Khan has come, he needs to test himself against a hard puncher that has the ability to time him like Garcia did. Collazo is not a KO puncher, and has less KO's than Khan. Brook has both good power and skills. Thurman would also test him in those categories. My guess is he will avoid guys especially like Thurman. I think Porter would also beat Khan...mainly giving him trouble kind of like Peterson did.

Although I have not seen very much of Brook. I think I have seen enough in just one fight with Porter I'd favor Brook. Brook is a big strong welterweight. I'd give Khan a Decent chance just based on his resume alone. Khan has some defeats on his resume but has still fought some good comp. So I can't count Khan out. I just don't think he will beat Brook.

I've been saying for a few years Kell wins by KO. I'm still swaying that way but Khans performance against Collazo has left me thinking the Hunter factor, whilst detracting from his entertainment value as a fighter, is working from a defensive point of view. I think it's a good fight, with Kell holding a world title, it makes sense. It gives Khan to top the Welterweight food chain outside of Floyd & Pac.

If Khan were to win Kells 147 title, front of the que for that fight would be Juan Manual Marquez. He's desperate for that 147 title and would annihilate Khan.

One question I always wonder about is why Khan turned down Brook's team offer of $5 million last year, but then chose Collazo for a lot less money? If he had the confidence to beat Brook he would have fought him....same with Alexander. The only think I can figure is he thought Collazo was much less of a risk.

The guy that Cotto beat as a pro was an olympic gold medallist and his boxing ability really wasnt that great.

According to this article, it was $8.3 million. http://www.boxingnews24.com/2014/02/hea ... ell-brook/

Any way you want to spin it, Khan would have made much more fighting Brook than Collazo. Collazo was the safer option.

The more I think about this fight, the more I think it won't get made. I think Khan could beat Brook, but also think his ego will prevent negotiations from being completed. Hearn recently hinted that it is going to be difficult.

Khan needs a big win to get Floyd to fight him in May. He needs to beat Guerrero or Thurman imo to get it. The safer option would be Ghost, but not an easy fight.

Khan will wipe the floor with Brook and beat him relatively easily IMO.. It's those wild fighters who throw looping shots that really trouble Khan, Brooks best work is up the middle with counter punches, Khans hand speed would be too much for him. I don't even think the fight would be competitive to be honest. But then again Khans chin is suspect and Brook can punch so anything can happen, I just think Khan will bank a lot of rounds early.. He might get in a little trouble late in the fight once he fades a bit, but I think he would wear Brook down enough that Brook wouldn't have enough in his tank to get the job done and ultimately win the fight.

keeping Khan from getting the big fights
He's actually not having trouble getting big fights, he just can't land either one of the 2 biggest fights anyone could hope to land.
There are plenty of big fights out there for him, especially since every fighter in his weight range knows he brings a large payday and a decent enough chance to render him unconscious. There's a line around the block to fight Amir.

I personally think he's praying so hard for one of the 2 biggest fights, that he's looking to dismiss most legitimate opponents with some false pretext or another, so as to not lose what he thinks is a spot in line for Floyd or Pac.

I think his main problem, is he's just not very intelligent - he makes stupid decisions, and cannot adapt when things go wrong. That isn't something you can change. He will always look good until he's under pressure and taking big shots, then will instantly revert to type.

Khan will take the first few rounds with his fast punches, but get stopped mid- or latefight.
