I was looking through Herbie Hide's record just now and I was reminded he lost to a Lithuanian journeyman by TKO after he sustained a cut caused by an accidental clash of heads.

Does this ruling still exist in UK rings? It's absolutely baffling.

Goes to points if the fight lasts over 4 rounds. Prior to that, if the injured fighter can't continue, then it's a NC.

I believe it changed in 2010. I remember it being changed whilst I was working for the board.

I think it was changed in the rule book in 2010 then brought into effect in 2011 following Bayaar/Edwards

Benelio - that's right for some fights but not all - it depends on the scheduled distance. If the fight is scheduled for 8 rounds or more, then it goes to points if it ends after 4 rounds or more on an accidental foul. If it is a six rounder, then it goes to points after 3 rounds on an accidental foul, and if it is a four rounder, it goes to points after 2 rounds. Thats what happened with the first Quigg/Munroe fight and the first Rees/Mathews fight
