Pacquiao Willing To Go Back To 140 or 135
Pacquiao Willing To Go Back To 140 or 135
Pacquiao has said he would go back down to 140 or 135 if he can't get another superfight at welterweight. Possibly to face Garcia or even Crawford. What do you guys make of this? http://sports.yahoo.com/news/manny-pacq ... 40309.html

As far as I know the fight is contracted at 144 lb.fergusg wrote: The actions of Team Pacquiao appear to contradict this claim, because the Algieri fight is being held at 147lbs, even though the New York native is currently the 140lb champion… so I’m guessing that Manny’s team wanted the weight advantage.

I'd just stick with catchweights or at the full 147 depending on the opponent, why bother trying to lose weight when you dont have to do

Pacquiao and his team call the shots, I know everybody likes to get a good cry in about it but it makes zero sense to drop to 140 and face Algeri when he is the champion above that. Make the guy come to his weight class, regardless. Conceding anything is just plain stupid. Now when it actually makes sense to go back down to lower weights, against an opponent worth the $, he can easily do that.
I don't like catchweight fights either but any fighter that signs the contract has nothing to complain about. They chose it, knowing the implications.

Its funny why Roach said he had wished the fight was at 140 though. He has said before Pac's best fighting weight was at 140, or 147, depending on the opponent and what they had to lose or gain to be uncomfortable.

I'm sure Pac is ready to go to 140 for a Canelo fight.

Can't be good for him to get back down to 135 realistically though? I was always of the opinion as he moved up that he'd settle at 140 but there were a lack of star names at that time after he beat Hatton to keep him there.

I think they're just saying that to bait Floyd. Like basically, now or never...

he's fighting twice more next year and then running for the senate, probably
out of top level boxing for good. there are bigger fights for him at 140, expecially
if oscar is willing to deal. it is kind of weird that pac could just take algieri's 140
title and keep his own if the fight was at 140, as opposed to taking a chance of
winding up titleless and algieri walking away with 2 if the fight goes the distance
at 147. is the weight advantage that much in roach and arum's mind?
algieri is the bigger guy and i would think the added weight would help algieri more.

I think they bring up Floyd to catch headlines. I think all parties realize this fight has almost zero chance of happening ever.hulkmaniac wrote:I think they're just saying that to bait Floyd. Like basically, now or never...

Wtf is he gonna do @ 135? Crawford? Unless they are hoping Manny loses idk why that would make any sense. Fighting any of the top 3 or 4 guys @ 140 I could see & it could make some sense, but 135 ain't got sh!t cept Crawford & no one knows who the f#ck Crawford is yet.

Crawford needs to move up to 140. He looked like his bones were poking out of his skin at his last weigh-in.
Re: Pacquiao Willing To Go Back To 140 or 135
Crawford vs Pac at 135 or 140 would be a great fight. 50-50 imo.
