Joe Calzaghe has a history of pulling out of fights (flu, bad hands, etc). Watch this space.

If he is, remember who told you first that the Hatton/Calzaghe double header would not materialise.

Hatton certainly looked 'hefty' a couple of weeks ago when he was on Ringside........... looked a bit heavy for someone whose supposed to be fighting in just a months time...... :TU:

i dunno silkov, when he was in the tunnel with gomez before his bout with jukko he didnt look a million miles away from his fighting weight.
he certainly looked a lot better than he did when summarising on the cotto/ n`dou fight anyway.

If I was Johnson I would be loving this. All these personal troubles aren't the best preparation for out-boxing a world class boxer - a cool head is needed and Calzaghe is a hot-head type who, to get himself up for this fight, may come into the ring intending to take all his frustrations out on Glengoffe.

But Johnson ain't no Mario Sheit or Tucker Pudwill (take your pick with Calzaghe opponents) defenceless type about to get overwhelmed. If I was Glengoffe I would relish Calzaghe coming at me full force with his slaps, Johnson has the ability to lay against the ropes and block them, not only that but he's tough as well so I doubt a one-punch kayo (of course, you never know with these).

Johnson would do well to lose the first three or four rounds versus Calzaghe, and if he isn't punched out, his aggression may have come down a notch. Either way, he's half way to beating Joe Calzaghe.

This is all assuming that Johnson is not shot (as Silkov pointed out) or that the event actually happens. :-?

From all these skirt-chasing, wife-threatening incidents, I'd say Calzaghe's been focusing on entirely the wrong Johnson.

Is it just me or is British Boxing at a low ebb at the moment? These two are supposed to be the highlights of an otherwise dull scene...one is rumoured overweight and fighting a punchbag while the other is chasing skirt and threatened with jail :TU: Good times :(

If all this was going on then Joe should have moved away from his area while preparing for this fight.

There was nothing stopping him going to America or even Italy to prepare and keep his head clear.

He might just deal with things differntley I guess.

i dont think you could criticise him too much for pulling out. He's going through a tough time, and this isn't an easy fight.
