Is Saturday's York Hall show still happening ?
Just wondering. The Boxrec schedule lists every home fighter vs TBA - a bit unusual with six days to go, and the promoter didn't make mention of the show in his column on Friday, despite mentioning most of his other upcoming promotions.
For armchair fans there's three shows on telly next Sat night - Sky's Groves show, C5's Hennessey show, and B ox N ation's York Hall show. Unless its fallen through ?

I'll be watching it, but only because it allows me to then watch Groves and Galahad later, so I can watch all three shows from the same night.JimJim2009 wrote:Cheershandsofstone wrote:As far as im aware its still on as the b/nation schedule has been updated from yesterday,Buglioni's fighting Ribchev and Skeete's fighting someone Pinto or sumin like thatOf the three shows on telly, this is my first choice, hence me asking. I love the 5 hour shows from York Hall.

Chuffing hell Expe, that's a late night ! I love the boxing but I wouldn't stay up until the early hours doing 3 shows back to back, that's beyond the call of dutyexpe wrote:I'll be watching it, but only because it allows me to then watch Groves and Galahad later, so I can watch all three shows from the same night.JimJim2009 wrote:Cheershandsofstone wrote:As far as im aware its still on as the b/nation schedule has been updated from yesterday,Buglioni's fighting Ribchev and Skeete's fighting someone Pinto or sumin like thatOf the three shows on telly, this is my first choice, hence me asking. I'm not doing them all in one lol. I'll watch allegedly live, then when the show on Sky is repeated I'll watch that, followed by Galahad on Demand 5 when it's put up. I'll be keeping an eye on the show in Bolton on the same night if VIP are streaming it, couple of fighters on there I wouldn't mind watching and if there's a break and I can find a stream I might watch Abril in Finland. There's loads on this month, just need to find the time to watch it all.JimJim2009 wrote:Chuffing hell Expe, that's a late night ! Schedule's now been updated for Fwank's show, Skeete fights Leandro Mendes Pinto, 37 year old Brazilian, Buglioni's in with Alexey Ribchev and Tom Baker-Jordan King looks a good match up, good to see two undefeated fighters going in with each other early on.

Times like this I do love my virgin tivo box,
Think I'm gonna watch Groves live, record this and Galahad. Watch Galahad soon as Groves has finished then this...or if I get tired go to bed and watch this first thing Sunday.

Has the Groves vs Rebrasse undercard been announced yet?
It was mostly TBAs last time I looked

What happened to the Copperbox? I remember a big hoo-ha about the exclusive deal and expected to see Buglioni, Skeete, Kean, etc packing it out each time they fought?
Re: Is Saturday's York Hall show still happening ?
They didn't renew the deal. Last time they fought there (that infamous April 2014 card where Chisora & Fury were supposed to fight but Warren refused in case they got injured before the big showdown), the venue was half empty.earsjohn wrote:What happened to the Copperbox? They was also an issue with closing time and the soundsystem. Apparently, the last fight was always after the last tube so most people would leave in the middle of it and the soundsystem was always too low.
The venue is now used mostly for gymnastics and basketball. Ironically, its wikipedia page doesn't mention the boxing fights happening there.
Re: Is Saturday's York Hall show still happening ?
Shame. I thought it could have been made to work. It's a decent spectator venue and surely finishing before the end of the tube isn't that difficult? I thought the deal was for 6 cards - there haven't been that many already have there?UrbanFox wrote:They didn't renew the deal. No offence to Fwank, but a good matchroom show would easily sell out the Copperbox, as would - in my opinion - Fury/Chisora 2, or BJS/Eubank jnr, except for some punters being doubtful about Fwank's main events happening.earsjohn wrote:Shame. So it seems Bradley Skeete's fight with Leandro Mendes Pinto is the bill topper
I just had a look at Pinto's record and it looks thin to say the least,i dont why promoters fly these people in to lose when they can put on someone more local on and bring some more bodies through the doors

It is a pretty poor card to be fair its got the feel of one of those low key Wednesday or Thursday night ones theyve done in the past. Even the main fights are really just keep busy fights.handsofstone wrote:So it seems Bradley Skeete's fight with Leandro Mendes Pinto is the bill topper

As said by another poster, Franck Warren seems to struggle with ticket sales in recent months. He didn't sell with Fury v Chisora II so the deal was probably terminated by mutual consent.earsjohn wrote:Shame. I thought it could have been made to work. Eddie Hearn already stated he wasn't interested. I also remember that there was a lot of bad blood between Matchroom and the CopperBox on IFL tv.
Re: Is Saturday's York Hall show still happening ?
London is a hard sell even with good fights you just need tickets sellers, but sometimes that isn't enough.

It is basically all Bradley Skeete's fault. There were four copperbox shows, and he fought on them all. Three went the distance, and the other one was a 7th round stoppage. This impacted on closing time, last tube home etc, and basically knackered everything. I know he's become an exciting, British level Tommy Hearns but I lost the will to live during some earlier Skeete bouts.
