Chagaev - Oquendo-2. Highly-anticipated rematch in the works

Post by Boxing Writer »

There are rumors that WBA "regular" heavyweight champion Ruslan Chagaev may face Fres Oquendo in a highly-anticipated rematch next. Eddie Chambers said it on Twitter, also Fightnews.com in this article - http://www.fightnews.com/Boxing/ruslan- ... e-3-261279 If you don't remember, I'll remind you that Chagaev - Oquendo was one of the most entertaining fight of this century, if not in the history. It makes Salido - Kokietgym fight look like Valuev - Ruiz in comparison. All boxing fans in the world can't wait to see Chagaev and Oquendo in one ring again, this fight will break all PPV records!

On the serious note, WBA has became by far the biggest joke among all boxing organizations. I mean, it's worse than GBO, WBB and GBU, really.

Ranking Kaufman, De Mori, and Tarver is beyond ridiculous. Pulev of course should be higher. WBA-World's Biggest AHoles.

Out of sheer curiosity I began watching the fight on Youtube after it happened. 2 rounds was all I could take.

Ortiz was supposed to get a shot at Chagaev. I think the WBA just figures it will make more money by keeping the waters muddy for longer. The faster Ortiz gets his shot, the faster the bogu belts are consolidated, and the fewer undeserving fees the WBA can collect.

Tarver appearing in an ABC top 15 is not ridiculous. He is somewhere in the divisional top 40, and it's hard to complain about a top 40 fighter making it into the ranks. You didn't complain about Kayode, Oquendo, Briggs, or Parker, and they are no better than Tarver. As I've repeatedly said, an ABC top 15 is no more than a random sampling of a division's top 60 fighters, plus a few completely inexplicable outliers, presented in no particular order.

De Mori's presence on this list makes absolutely no sense. Kauffman's presence is also odd. In fairness to Kauffman, though, his only loss was a pre-prime defeat and he's been steadily climbing for five years.

WBA shouldn't be sanctioning this kind of garbage as Chagaev-Oquendo II.

Luis Ortiz should be permitted his shot at Chagaev now.

I should have complained about Kayode, Briggs, and Oquendo. Parker is a hot prospect who keeps fighting and winning. Kauffman hasn't really been steadily climbing. He fights very seldom and doesn't have one good win. Parker has beaten Nascimento and Botha.
