Ricky Hatton and family

Post by broomy7s »

So i've often wondered why Ricky fell out with his dad. After watching the latest ifl interview with allegedly he seems to give the reason why. It seemed like Ricky was being mis-led by his own father on the purse amounts. Does anyone know if this is the case?

Yeah frank was basically saying ray hatton was telling ricky he was getting was less than his actual purse and pocketing the rest. If you read between the lines in hattons book it basically backs up what warren was saying.

Though in every interview when Ricky was active he was full of praise for both parents. Ricky had advisers as well so I don't really buy it. There are people on boxrec who are clued up about who gets what so I'd have thought Ricky would have known what he was worth and what he was getting. I think Ricky will be surprised at how much he earned and how little he has left, he will have to blame someone. Matthew doesn't seem to have the same problem does he?

If his Dad was skimming his purse thats about as good a reason as any to disown him.

In the first Hatton biography, Ricky states that his dad got his finances into shape because he'd been boxing pro a year or 2 and had nothing saved or to show for it.

Remember ray having a little moan when I asked Ricky to sign a glove I brought for my son when I boxed on his show at goresbrook Dagenham. Said something about it only going on eBay. Think I mumbled to get fucked and poke it. Really don't like the man

I know a man who had a similar experience, I think after a while Hattons dad realised that people were making money from merchandise and he obviously felt it wasn't on.

On my life. I gave the fornicator away next day and really went off the hattons big time after that. I was a massive fan of Ricky & watched some of his fights before a couple of fights to get in the mood. I was a big fan. My in laws got back from holiday a few months ago and Ricky & a few of his mates were there. Told he was rude. Off his tits & asking strangers for gear. Wouldn't look at hatton now if he sat next to me down the working men's club.

My workmate bumped into Ricky at the airport the other week and tried to say hello, I asked my workmate what his impression of Ricky was, his reply was surly, rude and arrogant. Seems like the man of the people has forgotten his roots.

The third person thing is usually an indicator of a pretty big ego.

The true question is what would 'ickle Ricky' think of the current Ricky?

i'm 4 or 5 chapters in but you wouldn't believe how may I've got on the go right now. It's a nice read for any boxing fans, but it's a shame what's happened there, as isn't he on not very good terms with both his father and his mother now? That's gotta put a strain on him, and Matt, and all of them I would guess. I hope it's something they can resolve :TU:
