Lebedev's loss to Jones

Post by ikorolev »

Wasn't it declared NC and belt returned to Lebedev ? Why is boxrec still showing a KO loss ?

The decision was never over-turned, one of the many mysteries of pro boxing.

I thought the WBA handed his belt back but the commission never overturned the result.

The sanctioning bodies have no authority to overturn official results but they are also under no obligation to recognize official results.
If I remember right there was an issue with Jones' drug test and the WBA immediately handed the belt back to Lebedev, they didn't bother waiting for any appeal process or official ruling from the commission.

The first sample came back positive and the second came back negative.

In less time than it took me to write that, some people figured out Lebvedev might be more marketable in Russia than a 41 year old Panamanian who fights once every two years. So the result of the fight stands, as it should. The belt, a shocking statement, I'm sure, goes where the money is.

"Mystery" solved. I'll be in my trailer if anyone needs me.

Didn't Jones also tested positive before the rematch which is why the rematch was cancelled ? Was this a part of the same conspiracy by Russians ?

The second test wasn't negative. That was Don King lying again. Just like he was lying that they didn't take B samples for the second fight. The fight should be a NC but I don't think anybody cares, save for Blowhard Bobby.
