Why the hell not? Hell of a lot better than both guys sitting inactive for another year.

Good good fight. I think Amir Khan will make Guerrero look stupid if he can control the distance but if Khan thought Lamont Peterson's roughhousing was tough to deal with he better not let Guerrero get on the inside.

I quite like the fight actually. I think Khan will win it but I think Guerrero certainly could pull off the victory. I wouldnt totally count him out of it for sure.

Solid fight. If Amir wins he has a decent argument for deserving Floyd which he hasn't had yet despite being in the running for Floyd. Robert winning gets him aligned for maybe a fight with Kell or Keith.

Does Guerrero have the power to knock Khan out? Probably not. Can he outbox him for 12 rounds? Hell nah. Khan is going to win this, beating a bloody Guerrero over the distance, maybe with a few knockdowns on both sides. War!
Re: Amir Khan vs. Robert Guerrero – December 6th on Showtime?
IF the fight gets made, I like it. I would have rather seen him vs Porter or Thurman, but Guerrero is a tough cookie, and has only lost one fight in about 7 or 8 yrs. A rare props from me to Khan if he fights Guerrero, after turning him down a couple of times. Khan will have to remain very elusive throughout the fight to win. I think Guerrero will be looking to trap Khan at every opportunity.
I will get more into this fight when I see it scheduled and know it is for sure going to happen. I am thinking Khan knows Guerrero isn't a huge puncher, so he will think this is a safe fight. I think he will be wrong, and I would pick Guerrero in this one. Khan has the tools to win, but you need more than just that against the top guys.

This! I've always thought that a Guerrero/Khan fight ends in a Guerrero TKO win. There's just going to be too many Khan-flops for the fight to continue.Ricky_ wrote:Good good fight. Khan might do some MAJOR holding though.

Sounds like an evenly-matched fight. Also, could give Khan a big boost in his candidacy to acquire a Mayweather fight.

Collazo the Guerrero would be a good entry into the 147 division.
Is he going out of his way to pick awkward competion though? is Virgil trying to toughen him up maybe? I know he beat Collazo with ease in the end but many thought of it as a tricky fight on paper.

I wont be watching the fight that's for certain, Amir khan is a shadow of what he was and is now looking for the big pay fights and not to establish a legacy as a champion boxer.
I hope Guerrero finishes the fight before the 12th round, if that happens I will be definitely be watching the highlights and Guerrero's next fight.

Khan will probably turn down the fight telling Guerrero he has "Mayweather problems".

I just do not see Khan taking any high risk fight. He really believes he deserves Floyd or Manny.
No other fighter will be acceptable to him at this point.

I like Amir Khan. But he has to get a win over someone significant before he can challenge boxing's elite. It takes more to get a multi-million dollar shot at the very best in the world than beating a few middle of the road guys and then talking a whole lot of smack. That said, I think his incredible speed and boxing ability can cause problems for some of the older elite men. But he needs to beat at least ONE top flight guy to redeem himself before he can get his turn.

Since when does it take more than that? Definitely not always, does it take more than that.It takes more to get a multi-million dollar shot at the very best in the world than beating a few middle of the road guys and then talking a whole lot of smack.
Honestly, it seems to me more like a road well traveled, when looking back.

The aggressive Guerrero who dismantled both Berto and Kamegai would clean the ring with the brittle Brit.
But if he wants to sit back and watch his foe lead the dance like he did with Mayweather, then Guerrero could lose.
I'll agree with those who suspect Khan won't want any part of a live opponent in December when a possible May showdown with Mayweather is still in the cards.

Khan recently said he wants to fight Manny.
Well, Algieri had to fight past Provodnikov to get to Manny. How about Khan VS Provodnikov?

Re: Amir Khan vs. Robert Guerrero – December 6th on Showtime?
Floyd isn't going to fight Khan unless he gets in with a live opponent, Khan hasn't beat a top opponent in quite some time! If there's one thing about Floyd is that he generally only fights opponents coming off of impressive victories or someone who's on a relatively long win streak. With Khans long layoff and not having a win against a top opponent in so long I really have a hard time seeing him land a Floyd fight.SenorPipino wrote:The aggressive Guerrero who dismantled both Berto and Kamegai would clean the ring with the brittle Brit.

Re: Amir Khan vs. Robert Guerrero – December 6th on Showtime?
I would favor Khan slightly in this though I think his speed would be key, but Guerrero is a tough guy that's not going to lay down and will make it a tough night for Khan. If this fight gets made I will definitely be tuning in.
Re: Amir Khan vs. Robert Guerrero – December 6th on Showtime?
I actually think Provodnikov would end up catching up with Khan and stopping him in the later rounds. I dont think Khan's punches would really phase ruslan either.fergusg wrote:That would be a great fight and I’d love to watch it… I’d even give the Russian a fairly decent shot of scoring an upset, but unfortunately it wouldn’t be an easy fight to sell to casual boxing observers.BAD INTENTIONS wrote:How about Khan VS Provodnikov?
Ruslan Provodnikov has lost two of his last three fights, so it may be hard to market him as a legitimate threat to Khan.
Is it wise from a competitive and a commercial perspective for Khan to prepare for a potential Mayweather welterweight bout, by fighting another 140lb-er in the interim?
Also, Provodnikov recently stated that he wanted to return to the 140lb weight class.
The other issue is that Ruslan’s promoter still works with HBO and Al Haymon normally doesn’t allow his fighters to compete on that network.
Like I’ve already said, I’d love to see Amir Khan face Ruslan Provodnikov, as it’d be a good fight, but there seems to be far too many hurdles in the way for this fight to be made in the short-term.
