Interesting that despite Browne's reputed power, most are picking him to win by decision.

Perhaps they got 200/1 with the bookies? That is about what it should payCutman Scabbers wrote:Who picked Welliver by KO?

Re: Lucas Browne vs. Chauncey Welliver
he is going to get smashed, but I thought somebody should vote for him. it will likely be his last fight.
mine was a joke, I hope the person who picked him by decision was too. or was it chauncy himself?

I could see Welliver frustrating Browne. Not sure he could get enough points to win though.

If Browne lost to Welliver he may as well retire. That said, as much as Welliver will spoil and annoy, he shouldn't give Browne too much trouble.

Big Daddy gets shown to be more of a Big Duddy than John Duddy did versus Billy Lyell. Close cards but Welliver shows his superior conditioning and stamina and pulls away in the 2nd half of the fight.
The question is....what idiots think that Browne will win by KO? 400 straight HW rounds and Welliver has never been down. This streak will continue right through and past Lucas Browne. If anybody is going down in this fight it will be Browne as he is the only one that will be in the ring with experience in going down.
On your knees Lucas! You don't have enough to get through this! Choosing Welliver shows us all your management are some stooges. Because they just goofed this worse than Lance Whitaker not realizing how savvy Savarese Sweet Lou is. Ask anybody with a clue on this, November 13th who the WBC Eurasia Pacific Heavy Weight Champ Is. There is only one answer that is and you'll find it putrid. And The New WBC Eurasia Pacific Heavy Weight Champ Is. Chauncy Welliver who walked right through you Lucas!

Chauncy was stopped in his last fight and I strongly suspect he'll get stopped in this one as well.
Is there any chance he'll turn up in good shape? Or are we going to see the 280 pound sumo wrestler version of Welliver again?
Re: Lucas Browne vs. Chauncey Welliver
if lucas has sights on bigger scalps then he must stop chauncy.

I don't think many will take much notice of the result so long as Browne wins and retains his unbeaten record.buster007 wrote:if lucas has sights on bigger scalps then he must stop chauncy.

Re: Lucas Browne vs. Chauncey Welliver
People tend to forget Welliver was stopped once (legit) in his eight losses... that was to Solis back in 2008...
Since then Welliver has not fought anyone of consequence... the biggest names being the Bert Cooper, Sherman Williams, and undersized/older Rob Calloway... the rest have been cannon fodder types...
So just how 'tough' he really is, is a matter of contention and speculation. Browne wasn't able to stop an older, slower James Toney--- but he's in good company, cus nobody has ever stopped Toney, so you cant hold that against him.
So for anyone to vote that Browne will stop Welliver, I would say are not taking as big a gamble as people are making it out to be. No disrespect to Welliver, or his handlers, but he is one of the most protected fighters out there. Browne, for all his limitations has improved and appears to get better as time goes on. With Welliver, thats not the case, cus he hasnt been tested (unless you count Williams).
Not saying I don't like Chauncey, after all he is Native American and I have some ancestry there, and he does have ties to another famed Native boxer (Joe Hipp) who I was also a big fan of in the 90's... but I don't believe team Browne took this fight cus it was a step up, but rather a 'stay busy' type of contest... no different, really, than when Fury fought Abell.
I'll give Welliver the benefit of the doubt, though, and say he will make it passed six-eight rounds, based off the fact he did go nine rounds with Solis--- even though the Cuban has proved to be nothing more than a glorified disappointment.

Re: Lucas Browne vs. Chauncey Welliver
Welliver was not stopped legit by Odlanier Solis. He was called on 2 weeks notice to go to Germany for the Vitaly Klitschko comeback card and that whole extravaganza. He showed up about 300 pounds and Solis was supposed to make work of him. He started out even to better than Solis and he was in the fight the whole way. Announced as The Fat Dorky White Guy. He got a little stunned in the corner but never went down. He was in the middle of throwing a punch when the ref jumped in....and he protested...jumped around the ring and had the crowd all laughing as he said Bring It On! The ref was looking to help Solis save face as every HW champ of note was there for the ceremonies and he was an undefeated olympic gold medalist who was supposed to be on showcase....looking like a fool as a fat guy slaps him around and takes his best stuff with relative ease. The ref stops a man with way over 300 HW rounds without ever going down....without him god damn going down. That was a BS stoppage if there ever has been one.
Chuvalo was stopped too...as was McCall. But Welliver and these 2 all have never hit the canvas and they are the only 2 men in the history of HW boxing to have a longer round streak going than Welliver.....the only 3 men in history to go over 400 straight HW rounds without tasting canvas. This is how the greatest HW chins of all time goes. Welliver>>>Chuvalo>>>>McCall. After Browne gets beat down perhaps Oliver can get a chance to break the streak and they can put a world HW record of rounds without going down in the same ring.

Solis had won every round and was hitting Welliver at will in the corner. The only place Welliver was headed was the hospital if the referee hadn't stopped the fight.Kronkpride wrote:Welliver was not stopped legit by Odlanier Solis.
Re: Lucas Browne vs. Chauncey Welliver
Your clueless mate Browne will dominate him. Your man has been beat by a 5 fight novice, a journey man and an old age pensioner all in his last couple if fights. Solis isn't much and he was million miles above welliver. Anyway if your so confident put some money on it, you will get great odds on your boy winning and you seen so sure put in everything you've got!Kronkpride wrote:Welliver was not stopped legit by Odlanier Solis. I think it will come down to who is more motivated to win.
Re: Lucas Browne vs. Chauncey Welliver
Welliver has nice boxing ability, much much better than Browne. I think he's in journeyman mode now though, shame. I expect Browne to stop him, i don't think Browne should consider a 'live' heavyweight like Joseph Parker though. He'd get slaughtered.rio wrote:Your clueless mate Browne will dominate him. Re: Lucas Browne vs. Chauncey Welliver
Not only do I think you should stop writing cheques that your boy may not be able to cash, perhaps you and your boy's team should stop trying to dog and discredit Lucas Browne until you actually face a fighter? Hey?! What about that? Instead of facing blank pages, you fight some one meaningful before you try and m make a cun........t out of some one?tsmithy50 wrote:Welliver has nice boxing ability, much much better than Browne.
