Rubio overweight at 161.8
Rubio overweight at 161.8
Is he trying to follow Salido's tactics against Lomachenko ? Even if he is 10 pounds heavier than Gennady, it won't help.
Re: Rubio overweight at 161.8
Meh, like you said, he's a class below GGG anyway, so it didn't matter what weight he comes in at. Pretty pathetic though for a journeyman fringe contender who finally got handed a paper alphabet belt this year. Would have thought he'd make more of an effort not to give it away after being on the outside looking in for so long

Did he make weight after 2 hours?
Re: Rubio overweight at 161.8
He didn't attempt to make weight.Cutman Scabbers wrote:Did he make weight after 2 hours?
Re: Rubio overweight at 161.8
The fine is $50,000 per extra pound, so he probably already squeezed all he could and could not drop anymore. Spada claims that scale was altered in Mexico to allow Rubio to make weight before their fight:
http://www.BS.com/spada-rubio- ... kin--81912
If that is true, then Rubio just can't make 160 anymore without significantly hurting his performance.

Re: Rubio overweight at 161.8
If the weigh in has anything to do with it I'd give Rubio the weight advantage.
Re: Rubio overweight at 161.8
weight wont help him.
this is going to be a quick slaughter.
brutal left hooks to rubios body
ggg will be done with him within 2 or 3 rounds.
mismatch.

Re: Rubio overweight at 161.8
..it's either a trick or just unprofessional...don't like it, hope he gets punished...
Re: Rubio overweight at 161.8
You'd think he'd want to weigh in light against Golovkin wouldn't you (or is it just me?). I don't see how it can help being a slow, bulky target.
Re: Rubio overweight at 161.8
In my opinion he simply can't do the weight and hasn't been able to for some time. I don't believe for a second that Spada was nearly three pounds under, draw your own conclusions.
Re: Rubio overweight at 161.8
Look at how fat he looks here though mate and this video was put up 11 days ago! I think he can. He's just a fat, lazy shit at this point in his career.Sklar wrote:In my opinion he simply can't do the weight and hasn't been able to for some time. I don't believe for a second that Spada was nearly three pounds under, draw your own conclusions.

Re: Rubio overweight at 161.8
I seen an up close picture of him at the weigh in and he looked very skinny and ill, the way he was looking i believe he just cant make the weight, he was 176 i believe at the 30 day weigh in and he seems like he walks around pretty high between fights, no way he would give up 100K if he could make the weight
Re: Rubio overweight at 161.8
Look at that youtube clip of him from 11 days ago. He's got moobs and you can see a fat stomach.stevekrazy wrote:I seen an up close picture of him at the weigh in and he looked very skinny and ill, the way he was looking i believe he just cant make the weight, he was 176 i believe at the 30 day weigh in and he seems like he walks around pretty high between fights, no way he would give up 100K if he could make the weight
Re: Rubio overweight at 161.8
How much is he getting paid to get KO'd, btw?
Re: Rubio overweight at 161.8
It was 450,000. Now it is down to a little over 350,000. Golovkin is getting about 900,000. I can't believe how low his and his opponents' paychecks are. It doesn't form a huge line to get brutallly KO'ed.
Re: Rubio overweight at 161.8
Weird that Qullin, who nobody seems to think all that highly of, was going to make so much more to fight Korobov considering GGG-Rubio is a unification fight of sorts and the TV boys seem to love GGG with his fan-friendly style.
Re: Rubio overweight at 161.8
Once again, it seems like K2 and Golovkin's manager are letting him down. He is already 32 and popular enough to make more money and have his opponents make more making fights with him more attractive. When are they planning to pay him ? When he is out of his prime and can't deliver amazing performances anymore ?

He's got Klitchkoitis. Far superior to any of the competition in his weight class.

Yeah, but Wlad makes quite a bit more money than GGG.Ricky_ wrote:ikorolev wrote:Once again, it seems like K2 and Golovkin's manager are letting him down. Re: Rubio overweight at 161.8
I think Danny Garcia made more money in his ridiculous Salka fight after unimpressive performance vs Herrera.
Edit: I was wrong: Gracia made 700,000.

Re: Rubio overweight at 161.8
Bradley made more when he was a nobody fighting Casamayor.
Triple G needs to be the good guy to a villain, Pacquiao to the Mayweather, Frazier to the Ali, it's just his bad luck there isn't a villain that could share a ring with him.

Re: Rubio overweight at 161.8
I wouldnt feel too bad for GGG. admittedly he could be on better money but 900k isnt to be sniffed at.
Re: Rubio overweight at 161.8
He'd make big bucks in fights he oughta win handily vs Canelo or Chavez. Cotto, Froch or Ward too. Unfortunately he'll probably never get Cotto and he may have to move up to make big money. Although, the Germans seem to be happy to pay big money for mismatches, so maybe he can take a few fights there
Re: Rubio overweight at 161.8
I don't think Sturm, Stieglitz or Abraham will dare to fight Golovkin at this point of their careers.giacomino wrote:He'd make big bucks in fights he oughta win handily vs Canelo or Chavez.
