I am down for Lomachenko beating Walters, This is a fight I would love to see though, as I said in another thread it would be Lomas hand speed and skill(defense coming at angles)vs Walters, will , conditioning and what I would guess would be arm length.
I think Johnny Gonzalez would give Walters a tussle too.
Walters is definitely quality and could upend anyone at 126 on any giving night.

None of those midgets can beat him, including Loma, who will be overwhelmed by his power.

This guy probably belongs at jr. lightweight/lw (130 or 135)

Johnny Gonzalez would have his head knocked off his body. Lets be real!!!
Do people just realize that Walters took down a guy who was NEVER knocked down or out in Donaire?

That's a good gauge of what his power is like.

Donaire had a really tough time with Vic too... I think he's officially done at the super-elite level. The only shot he has now is to return to 122 and avoid Rigondeaux.

if anybody....casyl, rigo, jhonny, i mean anybody to throw hands with walthers than they gonne get kod, thats for sure.

right now walthers beats anybody at feather. athleticly and powerise, this dude is serious business.

only man who can beat him right now is rigo, but that would a tough tough fight, because walthers is much bigger than rigo, also the reach advantage. rigo in the other hand would certinaly outsmart him and outmove him. nobody is more athletic than rigo, nobody has an better footwork than rigo.

this fight has to be made. rigo has to handle his business with cruz and walthers has to do the same with johnny and gradovich.

I picked nobody. I think Rigondeaux is about 50/50, and I figured voting for him to beat Walters was like saying that he was better than 50/50.

Walters has absurd speed, reach, and power; plus pretty good height. He doesn't necessarily fight perfectly enough to have a 100% chance of beating everyone he faces, because he's gonna eat shots here and there, but I think he's a favorite over almost anyone.

No chance. Walters would absolutely destroy Selby, it would be embarassing.

JHONNY GONZALEZ: his only chance would be, knocking Walters out, before he gets KO'd himself. That already happened 3 times, good chances, he would get KO'd against Walters aswell.

EVGENY GRADOVICH: haven't seen anything from him yet, but he doesn't seem to have the power to keep off Walters.

ABNER MARES: would end like against Gonzalez.

VASYL LOMACHENKO: probably has the best chance, even if he folds under pressure, like he did with Salido. If he doesn't get caught, he could win a decision.

GUILLERMO RIGONDEAUX (if he moves up): If he moves up, he would see power, he's never been hit with before. His chin seems shaky, has been down against Cordoba, and by the only good punch of Donaire. I doubt he could avoid all the punches for 12 rounds, but if he can, he could win a decision. 2nd favorite after Lomachenko.

to those that voted for Rigo...FYI that little burnt turtle barely rehydrates to 130!!!!! LMAO....that midget is way too small. Walters is close to 140 in the ring with maximum muscle efficiency.

Rigo could probably fight at 118 if he wanted to.......LOL.

Walters is so basic it's unreal. He just walked straight through Donaire that wouldn't happen v Selby. When the fight eventually happens I'll come back to this post.

While Selby could possibly beat Walters you're sounding an awful lot like you did for Kovalev-Clev, even down to the 'come back when' bit. I know one should adress the content of an argument and not its source, but I suspect that your lofty and confident predictions have something to do with factors other than how good the boxers are and how their styles mesh.

Walters is fairly basic, but his jab is good, he's tenacious, and he's quite a good puncher even when not optimally positioned. Selby tends to lay back and be overly passive, and I could easily see Walters putting him into a shell and gradually busting him up. Selby is a skillful fighter who has impressed me thus far, but he needs to show me that he can win impressively at a higher level before I pick him over Walters, let alone every fighter in the division.

He actually isnt that basic. I watched him against Darchinyan and thought he looked a little slow and clumsy myself but his actual boxing brain was still pretty decent. He's not just a come forward fighter with no boxing IQ. Admittedly he fought more like that against Donaire but that's because I think firstly he wanted to beat Donaire in style and also because I think he recognised that giving Donaire time to think and counter punch is when he's at his most dangerous. I'm willing to bet that Selby would not find walters easy to outbox and I very much doubt Hearn would have the balls to put him in with Walters to begin with. Selby will beat the very limited Gradovich and then milk that title for all it's worth against the likes of Warrington. I bet we wont see him fighting the likes of Walters, Gonzalez, Mares, Donaire, etc for awhile to put it lightly.

verballistic wrote:After seeing they way he broke down Nonito (who I don't think is shot) I wouldn't be surprised if Walters beats all of the current FWs...unless Rigondeaux moves up to 126. I could see Rigo outboxing/outsmarting him, but that's about it.

Your thoughts? If you think there is more than one fighter that can beat Walters at 126, feel free to vote for several.

I'm not sure who beats Walters, but I think he is far from unbeatable

What I will say is that I don't think Nonito is shot either, he did some really good work in there and caught Walters with some really good shots that would have taken guys out at lower weights.

Nonito just wasn't big enough in there, to hurt Walter enough to stop him or to take Walters power.

If Nonito can prepare as well, get back down to lower weights comfortably and fight the way he did last night, he still has a future at world title level

I also really like the fact that he held his hands up at the end and said he beat the shit out of me, he knows what went wrong....thats the first step to fixing a problem

Not impressed with Walters at all. He's just big at the weight and can bang a bit. Skill wise I don't even think he's Matthysse/Alvarado/Provodnikov level and Donaire would have stopped him inside 2 rounds had the bell sounded a few seconds later. Abner Mares is levels above Walters, he'd just be outweighed by Walters he'd be at risk of just getting clubbed out of there.

Hard to say.
Walters is stronger than I initially thought, he has a relatively good jab and slightly above average boxing skills.
He's entertaining that's for sure ... the jury's out.

Maybe Hisashi Amagasa as well.
