What is the longest amount of rounds an Amateur Boxing match can go?


Is it 3 x 3 minute rounds?.

Yeah. They can do 3 x 3 mins, 4 x 2 mins or 3 x 2 mins.

That is interesting, I have never heard of an Amateur Boxing match that is 4x3 or 5x2.

AIBA rules says Men boxers must compete in 3 x 3 mins. Women boxers must compete in 4 x 2 mins.

In 1997 and 1998 the length for men was 5 x 2 mins, for women 3 x 2 mins.

From 1999 - 2008 it was 4 x 2 min for men and 3 x 2 for women.

From 2009 it has been 3 x 3 mins for men and 4 x 2 min for women.


Until 1996 men fought in 3 x 3 mins but some tournaments started boxing at 5 x 2 mins. And in club shows you could box 4 x 3, 5 x 3 or 6 x 2.
