The word is Salford prospect Steve Foster is out of his English featherweight title defence on Saturday at the MEN Arena. He was scheduled to defend against durable Londoner Mickey Bowden over 10 rounds.

I'm no Promoter, but I've helped put on a few small hall shows, and I know that without TV money, you cant make a profit, even on a packed small hall show.

To put on Hatton, Calzaghe and Glen Johnson, whose title they are basically trying to buy, you need big TV money, possibly PPV money. SKY dont pay enough to have the exclusive rights to a show like this and allegedly does not take losses, he's not Don King.

The numbers just didnt add up from day one. (IMO)

That's interesting, I wish I knew more about how the figures add up, it's something which promoters tend to keep well under the table, rightly I suppose, it's nobodies business but their own.

I think allegedly will be loathe to let the whole bill implode, his reputation is going to take a severe battering if the entire show gets cancelled.

i dunno mate, I would give him some kudos if hge admitted hatton vs vilches isnt worthy of a top of the bill fight and pulled the whole thing. which wont happen of course.

Interesting. I keep thinking back to Buzz's post about the £7.5million Warren payed to Don King in an out of court settlement a few years ago
"If it wasn't for the King case, I'd have packed it in last year," said Warren at the time.
As Buzz cited, it explains the way Warren's biggest earner, Ricky Hatton, has been matched ever since (allegedly).
And, as you say Knockout Artist, once Showtime refused to back the Manchester show on Saturday, it helps explain why Calzaghe-Johnson has fallen through (allegedly).

I tend to agree, I think getting the royal shaft by Don has changed allegedly's outlook, and I cannot say it's exactly surprising, he did well to stay in the sport after that massive payout.
