Warren answers Hatton in News of the world

Post by steve richards »

Reading frank Warrens latest NOTW slagg off i noticed how much he's kissin Hattons arse IMO, Ricky needs to wait for this that and the other, He knows Hatton is pissed off, but i dont think the promise of big paydays will bother Hatton who is proberbly pretty well off now anyway, Mark my words if Hatton has;nt got a genuine belt in 12 months he'll be with Barry hearn, IMO there will be a mass exidus from the SN camp in the next 12 months and Hennessey and Hearn will have a field day with the wasted talent, If hearn call sell Magee as a contender he'll make Hatton a billionaire in 3 years. :TU:

i thought it was funny he was going on about Witter WBC ranking and how he isnt in the top 15 and Hatton wa number 5. Well hatton was WBC number 2 and witter has just won the European belt so he will be in the top 10 when WBC release their rankings

Warren tried to suggest that Benn & Co made their money on SKY and not on terrestrial TV.

He's clearly worried about Hatton moving to a BBC promoter.

They should change the title to Frankly taking the piss out of all the other fighters, I know a few guys who fight for him though and they all say he's ok, just loves the publicity thing and does'nt give a fornicate who he upsets on the way

Ricky Hatton is an ambitious fighters - and he likes to keep me on my toes as a promoter.

Hatton fights in Manchester at the weekend - and he can't afford any slip up's.

Last week Ricky said that he wants bigger fights and the chance to box in the States.

I'm glad to say that both his demands should bear fruit this year.

I'm planning an October spectacular involving Ricky, Showtime and either Paul Spadafora or WBA champion Vivian Harris.

And I also plan to put on a show in America involving both Hatton and Calzaghe.

I can understand Ricky's frustration at not getting massive fights all the time but his feelings are shared by me.

It is tough to make fights when guys like Shamba Mitchell start demanding telephone number pay packets.

To do that Pay Per View has to be used and when Ricky does that he will be the first boxer brought up through the ranks only on Sky.

Pay-per-view is where fighters such as Nigel Benn, Chris Eubank, Steve Collins and Naseem Hamed made their fortunes.

In the meantime boxing is a business and if the figures don't add up then quite simply the books don't balance.

I've got wages to pay and I don't plan on working to a loss.

The October fight should grab Hatton's attention.

I think Spadafora's style would make for a great spectacle and he will be at ringside at the M.E.N on Saturday.

A mistake by Ricky could be fatal - and history has shown shocks can happen.

No one gave Hasim Rahman or Oliver McCall a chance against Lennox Lewis.

***

Bad news for Kostya Tszyu, he’s been told by the WBA if he goes ahead with his proposed fight with Sharmba Mitchell in November he will be stripped of his title, which will again fragment the Light Welterweight division.

***

Judd Burstein the New York based hotshot boxing lawyer has been hired by New York City to challenge a decision to license Snapple as the Big Apples official drink.

Burstein famously represented Lennox Lewis in his £8 million claim against Panos Eliades.

***

A man and woman have sued Mike Tyson for more then $15 million.

The man said he has facial numbness and short term memory loss.

He must be suffering from memory loss – Tyson is bankrupt.

***

Last week BBC’s boxing expert Steve Bunce said after Junior Witter’s win that Witter would get “a proper WBC ranking, whilst Ricky would be defending his WBU belt”.

The facts are in the latest WBC ratings Ricky is ranked number 5 whilst Witter isn’t in their top 15.

***

I read in an American newspaper last week that very few athletes have the ability and more importantly the financial wherewithal to succeed professionally entirely by themselves.

It’s probably true, certainly for a boxer it takes time and investment to reach the highest level.

Some boxer’s find financial backing from friends, investors, managers and promoters, who like banks, expect to get repaid for their investment.

Recently three boxers, World Champions Antonio Tarver, James Toney and American prospect Ishe Smith have filed for bankruptcy to get out of existing contracts and repaying debts.

Mike Tyson’s manager Shelley Finkel, who also manages Smith, has said he will fight Smith’s bankruptcy petition because Smith owes him and his promoter Gary Shaw money.

They both feel Smith is using bankruptcy as a ploy to get out of his contractual and financial commitments.

It will be very interesting to see where this one goes.

Mr Warren sounds a little worried if you ask me.

Also

Last week Ricky said that he wants bigger fights and the chance to box in the States.

Hattons been saying this for more than a week, not to mention Boxing fans.

And

I'm glad to say that both his demands should bear fruit this year.

I await with baited breath Mr Warren, I and am sure many others hope you are as good as your word, time will tell.

"I plan to land Ricky and Joe on the dark side of the moon and return them safely, by the end of the year. After that a date with Mars or perhaps even Jupiter looms."

-- allegedly, on his recently-announced plan to conquer the galaxy.

Maybe "likes to" but doesn't have much success.

An email buddy of mine who lives in his neighborhood said he saw Spadafora a couple times last week, and he's a mess.
He's drinking and hanging out with undesirables from the area. :(
He also looks out of shape, and his weight is around 160.

Looks to me Wrank’s dragging his feet with the offer to make sure Spad shows up out of shape. :TU:
