Why not Bradley VS GBP Fighter?

Post by BAD INTENTIONS »

Just saw comment on BS and it opened my eyes. fornicate it, first time for everything.

This whole GBP/TR working relationship is not going to be anything significant unless both sides are willing to risk. Right now, we are only going to get super high end fights and crossroads type fights. The rest of the calendar is still going to be TR VS TR and GBP VS GBP garbage.

Timothy Bradley VS Diego Chavez for instance. Chavez is a good fighter. I'm sure this is going to be a good fight. However, Chavez was not comfortably ahead of Brandon Rios when the fight was stopped. It was a good performance, but after watching Rios lose a clear but tough decision to Alvarado and then getting dominated by Manny, we kinda know that a guy who is not clearly above Rios's level will not seriously threaten Bradley. It could happen, but not very likely.

If this "union" is to be taken seriously, they need to make fights like Timothy Bradley VS Danny Garcia. That would a marquee fight for boxing fans and it's the type of event that brings buzz and interest. Bradley/Chavez and fights like Garcia/Herrera are buzz worthy fights. They don't help promote the sport. Instead, they kinda just keep it going in the same direction.

However, is either side willing to risk their cash cows? When they start making those fights, then boxing will go in positive direction. Instead, we will get tons of Sadam Ali VS Carlos Abregu, which is an interesting fight, but not the kind of event a Bradley/Garcia fight would be.

Lomachencko/Russell was forced because of the mandatory situation.

There doesn't seem to of been any thawing of the HBO/Haymon cold war.
So that has to be factored in to any possible fights likelihood.
