Katsidis loses by KO to Coyle. Surely that is it

Post by Like a Boss »

Michael Katsidis lasted only four and a half minutes in his IBF international title fight against Tommy Coyle. A big left hook dropped him midway through the 2nd round and though he regained his feet Kats failed to convince the referee he was capable of continuing.

Surely that is enough Mick?

A short but concise report:

For his health's sake, Michael needs to hang up the gloves. One doesn't want to be remembered for the fights that end a career, but the glory days.

Katsidis looked as willing as ever. But just got caught time and again. With his medical history he should retire. But I have a feeling he needs the money and will keep going.

to be fair, he got caught plenty in every fight, so this fight was going to be no different.

got caught with a great shot and that's boxing.

I just watched it on youtube. What a performance by Coyle! He was perfect, picked his shots really well and great movement. All credit to him.

Placed his shots well too. Katsidis wore plenty of head shots in that second round.

That makes it all the more worrying, he's taken a lot of punishment in the past, but tended to walk through it, this time he couldn't and was blasted out of there. To me that's a sign his punch resistance is gone and even more reason for him to hang up the gloves.

Fighters who defend with their head have limited use-by dates and I think Mick's is up.
