Ward on points, although Mayweather Jr might make it awkward for him.

He's too big & too good to lose to the admittedly greater Mayweather.

If Ward makes 160, he will be too exhausted to beat Floyd.

Thanks for contributing to it, making it better than the 56 GGG topics.

- Pac Would Bust Up Golovkin @ 154lb Catchweight
- Is Lara tailor made for Golovkin?
- Is Gennady Golovkin too good to be true ?
- Who should Golovkin fight next?
- What are the chances of Froch fighting Golovkin?
- Would Froch v Golovkin sell out Wembley?
- Golovkin vs Ward. Who wins?
- Should Gennady Golovkin be in the top 10 P4P?
- Golovkin is a bigger draw in California than Ward
- Why Doesn't Golovkin Call Out Froch or Ward!!!!

or the 44 Canelo topics, this year.

I agree, i didn't write a wall of text, and this matchup is very unlikely, but people are discussing about Klitschko vs Tyson for years, so what? All i wanted to know, is your opinion about the winner of this fight.

Mayweather is considered the #1 P4P, and hasn't officially lost since 1996. Ward could be a future P4P king, if he ever fights again. He hasn't lost since 1998. Which active fighter has a streak like this, while fighting live opposition?
(Olympic Games, World Champs as a pro)

I think Ward would make current Mayweather look old, and damage his legacy, winning a 116-112ish decision. The only ones i'd give a chance, greater than 40% of beating Ward are Golovkin & Kovalev.

The fact you are even contemplating a match-up between the 2 shows you have no understanding of size, which is further made clear by the ridiculous notion that the fight would take place at a weight limit neither man has ever even contemplated fighting in.

Its fictional, lets just assume Ward can make 160, and Mayweather aswell. Its not like i've been asking about Rigondeaux vs Lebedev or something totally unrealistic.

fergusg wrote:@PsychoGamerTwo - Doesn't Andre Ward typically rehydrate to around 180lbs shortly after weigh-ins, whilst Floyd Mayweather told Fight-News that he woke up weighing 146lbs on the morning of the Canelo fight. He was only 148lbs against Maidana.

Whilst Ward isn't the biggest super-middleweights by any means, it seems rather preposterous to propose a fight between a blown-up 130lb-er like Floyd Mayweather Jr., who barely breaches the welterweight limit when he enters the ring, to face a man that could potentially outweigh him by as much as 35lbs come fight night.

Floyd has frequently had to overcome a weight disadvantage as much as 17lbs... and you think it's fair that he pushes the boundaries to almost absurd levels by fighting an opponent... not only possessing comparable skills, but also having a mammoth 35lbs+ weight advantage, coupled with being seven years younger than himself... and approx 4" taller as well?

I think I'll create a Lomachenko versus Golovkin thread, because the rehydrated weight discrepancy is about the same as Mayweather Jr. versus Ward!
Been saying this for years.

But when you have a personal vendetta against Floyd, you gotta take every shot you can.

Hopkins did seriously offered to fight Floyd at 160. So, there is nothing wrong with this hypothetical match-up except I think that Hopkins could make 160 easier than Ward.

Ward is way too big and equally skilled and as fast/if not faster than Floyd; he has all the physical advantages and if he can stop 175lbers then I'm certain the he could stop Floyd as well.

If they fought at 154 then I would say that Ward would be too drained to make it to the finish line and Floyd will outpoint him easily but Andre is not a big SMW so making 160 won't kill him even though he won't be at his strongest and Mayweather will never make the 160lb limit as it is he always comes into his bouts at Jr MW lower than the limit around 151 or even 148 at best so still he'd be much smaller but faster.

With a referee who stops Andre Ward from clinching, hitting while holding, head butting etc, Mayweather wins. If he's allowed to foul, Ward wins.
