Joshua vs Kevin Johnson?

Post by keirw »

Malik Scott claims Kevin Johnson is preparing for a fight with Joshua, I'm guessing Jan 31st.
I'm sure the kingpin will do his best to make it boring, but Joshua should get some much needed rounds in the bank.
If it is true, of course.

Horrible fight. What is the point in this, really?
As far as Hearn,Nelson and the rest of the Sky ra-ra girls are concerned, AJ is ready now for the big fights, so put your money where your mouth is and get the Price fight made, get the Fury fight made, get the Haye fight made.
Or just feed the masses bullsh1t and get the KJ borefest made. Tell you one thing, god help Eddie Hearn if ever loses the Sky money and actually has to work for a living making competitive fights.

Rant over there :DD

No way in a million years that Eddie is going to let AJ in with Price yet. Price is a phenomenal puncher and the risk is just too high at present.

Sprott fight should not even be allowed and how he has got a licence still is beyond belief. The BBBoC should be ashamed of themselves.
Johnson fight will be just a total bore fest so I think a good fight out there for two young upcoming heavyweights is Hughie Fury v AJ. The fight for me makes sense and could in the future lead to some trilogy.

'AJ' is not ready for big fights, he has blown through what has been put in front of him (which isn't much just yet). Johnson has long lost his ambition but in fairness he's unlike anything Joshua has fought before (which could be interpreted as good or bad :) ).

Johnson hasn't been stopped, if Joshua walks through him it shows he's got genuine power and the ability to deliver it against a negative opponent who has skills. If Johnson spoils his way to the end it gets Joshua some rounds but maybe shows he's not the beast some are making out.

It's not fight of the year, but the guy is only 9-0. I can think of a lot of far worse opponents for him at this stage. There's plenty of time for the Prices/Furys etc. This isn't a terrible fight in the interim (in my opinion).

Why should Sprott not be allowed a licence? What are you talking about?

Baboon, you are a dream fan to any promoter. You're totally missing what is being said about AJ by Matchroom/Sky

Unless he gets beat(which won't), this will tell us nothing.

Johnson is too risky at this stage. I don't see the point.

No, I'm hearing it, and I thoroughly understand your viewpoint, but I'm also accepting it as the usual bollocks that they come out with and instantly dismissing it. They wont make the fights you list because he is a cash cow and they arent willing to risk him even against Price (the other two he definitely isnt ready for). Of course I'd rather see him fight them, but you're living in cloud cuckoo land if you think that just because they bang on about him being ready for it that they actually believe it.

I'd like to go home to a palace full of nymphettes and a mound of coke the size of Ben Nevis, but it aint going to happen. In the meantime I'll accept what is realistic and as far as this goes it isnt a bad fight. Ignoring the MR/Sky diatribe, at 9-0 it's passable, at 14/15-0 I'd be hoping he's in with a Price (at least).

Have you boys ever seen johnson fight? He does not have an ounce of amition in him. He will come over and talk a good game but when it comes to the actual fight he will do enough to lose 120-108 on all score cards. There is not an ounce if danger in this fight, johnson does not come to win.

The bloke has been a pro for a year. He needs rounds and KJ will give him them. Who cares what Sky/Matchroom say. This is a boxing forum, supposedly for those who can see through the hype.

I thought he deserved the decision against Hammer last year and Hammer is generally considered to be a top 15/20 heavyweight at the moment.

His fight against Charr was close and I only had him losing by two and Charr is a top 20ish ranked heavyweight.

Johnson has never been stopped and if Joshua's untested stamina isn't that good then he could be in trouble later in the fight.

Why bother taking the risk at this stage? He should fight someone a step above Sprott next and not two or three.

It will be an absolutely horrendously boring fight to watch, however Joshua will surely get extended beyond 6 rounds here.

I'v said it before, Joshua will be put into a fight where he is taken the distance against a guy who doesn't pose a threat before he goes in with someone who does. A bit like Price vs Zavarotni.

I agree AJ is going to need to learn to cover up really well and use his footwork to move out of danger during Johnsons explosive attacks.

AJ not ready for fury( tyson) and definately not haye, hughie still a baby so no point in that, would not object to kevin johnson or tony thompson and would make the price fight tomorrow regardless of how hard he hits.

I dont even think Johnson would take Joshua many rounds these days either,Chisora nearly KO'd him and he's that negative he'll be a sitting duck for a big lump like Anthony

In saying that if Kevin can take AJ 6 rounds then its an improvement

This is a good fight for AJ.

Assuming he wins (which he should) the very least he gets is a decent number of rounds in the bank. At best he does something nobody else has and blasts through Kingpin. That would give him a profile boost and may encourage Eddie to put him in with some better fighters

He's getting Sprott mixed up with Danny Williams.

I agree.

AJ's matchmaking has been prudently aggressive for his experience level, and this is another case of that in my view. He should get some rounds in but I don't think Johnson is too much of a threat to win.
