It was Johnson's manager who called Joe a "pussy", not Glen himself. Joe's got that wrong.

Anyway, what's a world boxing champion talking about licking pussy for? That sort of caper is meant for liberal, equal rights types, not alpha males.

In Wales, Johnson has much less of a chance than he would have in Manchester. Johnson deserves more money. How can Calzaghe question that when he's never fought anyone in their own backyard!
And, call me cynical, but it's so obvious from the first few pars there's nothing wrong with Calzaghe. He's hyping a fight four days before they were first scheduled to meet. And note the "once he gets the all clear". Not if.

OK, so he's got a back injury which has kept him out of action for this weekend, which they've had the best back specialists in the country working on, apparently, but he's confident that he can get back in training for a world title fight in six weeks. Anyone here ever had a back injury? Anyone been absolutely confident, whilst injured, that they could be fit to fight a world title in a month and a half?

Crikey, this sniffs.

In my humble OPINION, this all seems a bit iffy. First of all we have the double header in manchester featuring Schmo Ballsacky in his light heavy debut and Picky Fatone making the165 defence of his WBpoo belt, ensuring a sellout. The all of a sudden Ballsacky gets injured and then is sheduled to fight in his hometown 6 weks later, thus ensuring another sellout to boost Wank Sporrans coffers.hmmmmmmmmmm.

Wow, Calzaghe is fighting in Wales!? What a true champion ... having the fight rescheduled in your backyard. I hope Johnson decapitates him.

It's just a bit strange when a challenger pulls out of a title fight at late notice and gets rewarded with a new date closer to home.
What I can't understand is: how can he be injured if a new date is already set? Surely, after the sour taste left by Calzaghe's late withdrawal on Saturday, they'd wait for him to recover before announcing a new date - just to make sure the same thing doesn't happen again. But to announce a new date three days after he pulled out with a supposed bad back is very fishy indeed. It smacks of 'wait for the tickets to be sold' - and pull out one main event in order to use it a month later.

I've only pulled muscles in my back and I've been in that much pain I wouldn't think of training for at least a month. Never mind organise a new date straight away......if true how will he get fight fit?!

Thats why I think this injury is BS. He should have been a man and accepted the original date and went out there and performed for the fans who had forked out £. Yeah he has some problems right now but their all self inflicted. Happens to every man/woman at some point but we all have to go to work!!!

That's what happens when you can draw a crowd mate, something poor old Johnson couldn't do if he boxed naked in his own front garden.

What do you want Calzaghe to do, insist the fight be held in Jamaica??

I'd love it if it was, a great fight venue in the summer. I went a couple of years ago and the atmosphere was amazing ( even if the fight wasn't )

But it's going to be at the Cardiff Int Arena apparently. I'll be going to that one - it's still a great fight, even with all the crap that's been going on in the background. Might wait a few weeks before I get tickets though

BBC are reporting that the fight is not gonna happen on the 24th as Johnson is refusing to fight him.

If that is the case do you think he will go for another light heavy 'name' or stay at super middle and go for one of Ottke's old belts? Against Lacy or Vanderpool? Either one would be good, as would Beyer or Green.

No idea to be honest. They'd just set up rows of chairs in the castle grounds. Great venue though - got a beer at the bar and just wandered around the grounds in the sunshine - had a chat with the ever friendly Enzo, who was warming up outside the "dressing rooms" - which seemed more like some sort of castle dungeon.
By the time Calzaghe came to the ring it was dark, and with the castle lit up in the background it made a great setting.
At least the Santos/Takaloo fight was a good one.
