Excellent. Keep up the good work, Mick.
A better fight than Bellew v Cleverly, free to air (excl TV licence).

Re: Hernandez vs. Afolabi LIVE on Channel 5 (Dec 6)
Great news this the more boxing on terrestrial tv the better!
Not long back it was looking like Channel 5 were pulling out of boxing but now they seem more involved than ever this plus GGG v Murray announced in the same week.

You would have thought this was a given for b ox nation. Interesting to see channel five broaden their horizons. There must be a world of difference in price in footing the bill for a live broadcast, and just buying the overseas rights to a show happening anyway. They might get several shows for the same price.

This could be a low-paced affair.

aye, Afolabi is a Toneyesque lay-back-'n-counter type, and Hernandez is, well, he's Cuban, so yeah.orbtastic wrote:This could be a low-paced affair.

Afolabi deserves a bit of luck,i hope he's still got 1 last great performance in him,Hernandez can definitely be beat and seems like a matter of time before his low workrate will be punished, hopefully Ola can outhustle him on way to a points win
Re: Hernandez vs. Afolabi LIVE on Channel 5 (Dec 6)
Im starting to wonder if Hennessy has a load of dirt on top tv executives because so often he seems like he's dead and buried in terms of tv deals and then he's pulls one out the hat like this! Lol
Re: Hernandez vs. Afolabi LIVE on Channel 5 (Dec 6)
Ps i dont particularily rate Hernandez. I actually think Lebedev is a better southpaw and quite possibly the best guy in the division even though he had that close somewhat controversial loss to Huck a few years back.

I hope his paymasters don't end up preferring mick to buy them shows that are already happening, instead of paying and broadcasting his own.lefty wrote:Im starting to wonder if Hennessy has a load of dirt on top tv executives because so often he seems like he's dead and buried in terms of tv deals and then he's pulls one out the hat like this! The CW divisions a bit of an enigma, if every champ was on their game,i would probably go for Huck, but you can make a case for them all being no1 but they've showed vulnrabilities and are all fortunate to still have their titles, hopefully Guillermo Jones never gets near a world title fight again, who knows what he took out of Lebedev that night, then for him to fail another test hours before the rematch is unforgivablelefty wrote:Ps i dont particularily rate Hernandez. Admittedly ive never seen WBC champ Wlodarczyk
Edit - As ive glanced at this months BM to spell Krzysztof's name i noticed he lost the title to Grigory Drozd
I remember seeing they were fighting recently but never knew the result,i seen Drozd beating Masternak for the European last year,he was good that night but never thought he'd be a world champ by now

I do hope that channel 5 big these shows up with some decent advertising,it could be the dawn of a new era
With the Sky hype train in full steam ahead mode trying to hoodwink the casual fans and fleece the hardcore with THAT PPV wouldnt it be lovely if Channel 5 reap the rewards by attracting all the casuals into watching on their free channel after being sucked into the Cleverly/Bellew machine

I think Hernandez only deserved one win from his last 4 fights.lefty wrote:Ps i dont particularily rate Hernandez. I actually think Lebedev is a better southpaw and quite possibly the best guy in the division even though he had that close somewhat controversial loss to Huck a few years back.
Afolabi has a great chance here, he better not screw it up by fighting like a lazy git.
Re: Hernandez vs. Afolabi LIVE on Channel 5 (Dec 6)
Nobody has picked up the Khan Vs. Alexander fight on the 13th December as of yet. Wonder if Channel 5 are interested?
I think we'll hear something soon about which channel Carl Frampton will be fighting on going forward too

Re: Hernandez vs. Afolabi LIVE on Channel 5 (Dec 6)
Great news to see this more big fights on Channel 5, but not too sure what Hennessy has to do with it. Surely Sauerland can sell directly to Channel 5 without a middleman? And they don't really need to put any of his fighters on the undercard, do they?
Still cool though, if we can have the British title level fights that MH promotes plus some decent big fights from the continent, all on FTA, that's a real step in the right direction.

Great news and David Price should be on the undercard. Seems like the allegedly and sauerland deal is no more.
