Re: Corolla v Avril
Lavigne???
Nah i assume you mean Richar Abril?? If so its a tough ask as he's very skilled but beatable,if Crolla can rise to the occasion and with home advantage,i think he's got a chance of pulling out a win but he's got to fight the fight of his life, even better than he did against Rees or Murray, just take the fight to Abril and make him uncomfortable, with a high workrate then i reckon Anthony might have a chance

We've heard this one before, Eddie was talking like the fight was made before the show in September, then it never happened, I'll believe it when it's announced.
Re: Corolla v Avril
Eddie said there was going to be a world title on the 23rd bill in Manchester. so i guess it's going to be that, good fight, if crollar comes thought we might get to see mitchell crollar in the summer.
Re: Corolla v Avril
Hearn will make it PPV
Re: Corolla v Avril
dublin crowd is quiet tonight i was at the last ufc dublin show and it was insane maybe cause crollar is english. sounds a bit dead.
Re: Corolla v Avril
Another strong performance from Crolla, he's really come on since the loss to Mathews, seems to improve fight by fight but that won't continue forever, at some point he needs the big test, and looks like that's now going to happen in January. Good luck Anthony.
Re: Corolla v Avril
Oh Well I'll be going to this one for sure.tony1234 wrote:Hearn will make it PPV
Sure I saw Jenkins and Limind in the card as part of the latest Board listings.
I like Anthony a lot entertaining fighters and met him and such a top guy.
However I have seen Abrils last fight and he is incredibly slick. IMO much superiors to anyone Antony has been in with. I would love Anthony to pull this off and you know something I am going to predict Crolla by dodgy decision but I really do hope he wins legitimately.
Re: Corolla v Avril
I still think he would have beat Burns when he was champion - shame that never came off - Abrils I haven't seen, I'll have to track down some of his fights.

We haven't heard that 'it's signed' before. Just 'I want to get it signed.' I'm out tonight, but assume itexpe wrote:Toyota Corolla vs Avril Lavignehandsofstone wrote:Lavigne???

Was announced in the post fight interview on tonight bill was it?
If Ant wins it makes him a big target for all the-lightweights in the UK. I'd expect to see Mitchell get a shot at the earliest chance. Derry Mathews could get into a mandatory position if he keeps defending that belt too.

Re: Corolla v Avril
Well fight confirmed.as he said himself, a massive underdog . Every dog has his day
Re: Corolla v Avril
Corolla is no where near world class
Re: Corolla v Avril
The latest WBA rankings got announced yesterday and Crolla isn't in the top 15 so how on earth can they get him a fight at the world champion?
Re: Corolla v Avril
Can't imagine Abril makes that much fighting in the US so i doubt it would cost a million dollars (excuse the pun) to get him over here on a voluntary. Especially to fight someone he should be beatingcocobongo wrote:The latest WBA rankings got announced yesterday and Crolla isn't in the top 15 so how on earth can they get him a fight at the world champion?
Hope Crolla causes an upset though. Thoroughly likeable chap

Re: Crolla v Abril
What a treat opportunity for Corolla in Manchester , good luck to him with Jenkins and limmond and Quigg on it , it looks a good night of boxing is being planned by Eddie who I usually criticise
Re: Corolla v Avril
WBA rules say they can't sanction the fight unless Crolla's in the top 15, I would assume he'll be moved in there soon, otherwise the fight won't be for the title.cobbler80 wrote:Can't imagine Abril makes that much fighting in the US so i doubt it would cost a million dollars (excuse the pun) to get him over here on a voluntary. Re: Crolla v Abril
If it happens, Crolla will have to fight an intelligent fight. He can't come straight forward all night or Abril will shut him out. Watch his fight vs Rios as an example (he was scandalously robbed of a decision that night).
Abril's fights are rarely thrilling though, so hopefully Crolla can force him to fight his fight.

Re: Crolla v Abril
Quigg won't be on. Eddie said they are looking at about March for his next fight which I'm happy about. Gives time to actually try and set up a fight with Martinez or Galahad who are the two more realistic names out of that group of names that we want Quigg to fight.denzil1970 wrote:What a treat opportunity for Corolla in Manchester , good luck to him with Jenkins and limmond and Quigg on it , it looks a good night of boxing is being planned by Eddie who I usually criticise
Eddie said Brian Rose and Luke Campbell will be on the bill tho.
Re: Crolla v Abril
Crolla will sail into the top 15 with the wba after last nights pulsating victory.
Abril is skill full and it's a tough fight, Crolla has a good engine tho so i'm gonna go for him to lose a hard fought battle.

Re: Crolla v Abril
I give hearn a lot of stick but fairplay for getting this fight in Manchester, I take everything back if he makes it ppv. If jenkins and limond are on it hopefully saunders fights one of them. Would love to see hughie fury v joshua on the undercard which would be possible if hearn digs deep.

Don't see the point in Hughie v Joshua personally; Joshua is probably already significantly ahead of him, and why give one prospect a set back by putting a defeat on either record? It's not as if they've got any sort of beef to make it inevitable either.rio wrote:I give hearn a lot of stick but fairplay for getting this fight in Manchester, I take everything back if he makes it ppv. I'd imagine in 2015 Joshua will be fighting Tyson Fury, rather than Hughie; albeit later in the year.
Re: Crolla v Abril
Think it would be a great fight for the british, and if joshua wins like he likely would it would lead to a massive grudge match later in the year when tyson goes for revenge.MarkMcBurney wrote:Don't see the point in Hughie v Joshua personally; Joshua is probably already significantly ahead of him, and why give one prospect a set back by putting a defeat on either record? Re: Crolla v Abril
Crolla has surprised me before, but I cant see this go any other way then Crolla getting absolutely schooled by Abril.
Re: Crolla v Abril
It's not an amazing fight, but certainly a step back in the right direction for Matchroom.
An opponent that is a known commodity who has mixed it in world class.
Rather than some Argentinian, Eastern European guy from a division below.
More please Edward.

Re: Crolla v Abril
It's a sign of a fighters ability when you have to rely on a voluntary you've been hearing about for a year. No intention in going another route to get a mandatory?
I'm sure he's a very nice lad but i've never rated him much. Don't see him winning this.
On a side note, if there's any Smiths on the undercard, they're gonna need a new bucket man for the night.
