Silly Season

Post by jamesmcdonnell »

I'm writing a piece on the cancellations this year, which unfortunately is not that easy research, what fights have been cancelled this year.

I seem to remember it all starte with Tszyu v Mitchell, and then Toney v McCline, then spread to our side of the Atlantic.

Calzaghe pulled out of his first fight with Myrkrtchian I seem to recall, then we have Witter pulling out against Pinto, then Pinto pulls out against Hatton, then does Eastman pull out against Sanavia is it? Witter v Battaglia was postponted. Froch v Docherty twice postponed, Calzaghe v Johnson is now postponed too.

Which ones have I missed out?

Wasn't Danny Williams supposed to fight some European (can't remember the name). Then he pulled out the on the night (or very close to the night). One of his last efforts for the BBC.

Am I making this up?

Yeah, Ralf Packheiser, that's the fella. Poor form for Danny deciding he was ill on the very night of the fight.

Didn't Danny pull out of fights with him twice, the second time in Germany?

That's right! Of course. The re-match was in Germany, but this time Danny pulled out well in advance because he signed to SN??

Silly season indeed.
