I got 25/1 on Shields to win the Olympics in 2012. Greatest bet of my life. She's the real deal

I would laugh about it but I would last less than 3 seconds I suspect... Although I could run to make it last longer. Yep she really is a tough one!

From a competitive perspective no boxer should be in the ring if their corner is going to pull them out like that. Shields is good but there didn't seem to be anything special about the shot she landed, and obviously being hit is part of boxing.

Christina Hammer wipes the floor with her.

Hammer isn't really 'wiping the floor' with her opponents now that she's fighting at title level, but she has clearly been levels above most of them and even though I believe she should've lost to Mathis she was clearly outboxing her; Hammer seemed to get a bit careless in the final sequence and paid the price, but I think she'd probably win a rematch.

That said, the talent in the divisions Hammer has fought in is very weak and many of her opponents have been undersized and only find themselves fighting at those weights because they are overweight. Shields would not be undersized and overweight, and she seems to be significantly better talent and skill-wise than anyone Hammer has fought. I'd like to see them fight, but given the state of female pro boxing in the US it may be wiser for Shields to keep dominating the amateur scene.

First; Hammer was knocked by Mathis in her last fight, saved only by a corrupted judge.

Second; put Hammer up against Braekhus and watch..

Having not watched that fight, why is it listed as a NC? I keep reading that Hammer was knocked out, what happened to cause the NC result, rather than a KO?

It was first ruled a disqualification for illegal punches, later changed to NC!

Hammer was indeed winning the fight, but either lack of inside skills or fatigue, she was no longer able to keep Mathis of her.
A rematch will most likely happen at 160 instead of 154, and I think that will benefit Hammer a lot, and she might win.

Hammer will most likely never face Cecilia because I doubt Hammer want to go 154 again. And for Cecilia its the only fight worth going up in weight for. She will most likely go down to light welter sooner or later.

She was? By holding Mathis mybe, and using all the dirty tricks she could come up with. Even if Hammer has moore handspeed, to me it was just a matter of time until Mathis would hit her with something hard and by that turn the match around.

I had it 40-36 for Hammer, round 4 was closer but still 10-9. She had a good double jab, at least the first rounds. But you are right, Mathis will in most cases hunt you down and hurt you.
