What does Hatton look like days before a fight

Post by steve richards »

I wonder what Hatton is looking like at the moment, i wonder weather he will be up for this fight, Is ricky still blowing up between fights or has he been keeping his weight in check, i saw him on tv a few weeks ago and he looked like a light heavy :TU: , good preparation i think not.

I'm assuming he is in good nick - I don't think I've ever seen him in a ring and out of shape, I'll give him that.

However, it must be difficult getting himself up for Vilches and he is huge between fights...could the WBU belt be declared vacant on the scales?

Dafter things have happened and the bill is cursed, after all...

Afew people in the game recon he walks around 2-3 stone heavier then fighting weight, admitedly he work like an animal in the gym before a fight and always looks tip top, but if he gets in the trenches with someone he'll get caught out

Hatton admitted to weighing around 12-12 1/2 stone between fights, and he weighs around 11st 2 lbs on fight night.

Considering that it's amazing he is able to maintain such a tremendous workrate, something will have to give though eventually.

last week surely not? I can believe he was at the marquez cotto fight when he was commentating but not last week. You sure?
how did you come across that little gem. He looked he had shifted a load of weight at the gomez fight, so sorry steve I cant believe he was 13 stone last week, not going on what Ive seen. That would mean he would have to shift 42 pounds in 2 weeks....nigh on impossible I would think.

I think Hatton is already slowing down. He was grabbing Pedersen at times to take breathers, something I don't think the fresher version would have done.

I honestly believe it's down hill from here.

How would he loose the weight?, just graft in the gym, its a shame you cant get your hands on the bbbofc weigh in checks, if the walks around at 12 1/2 normaly why would it be unusual to go to 13 stone, when i saw him a couple of weeks ago he looked like a small light heavy, Harrison walks around alot heavier than he fights but he looses 2 pound a week and boils down that way, Hatton has always been a big light welter and always has a sweat suit on, and he's been on his hols to disney paris where the food and beer are very nice. :TU:

Yes Im not disputing that, but you said last week which would leave 42 pounds to shift in two weeks? That 24 pounds a week not 2 llbs a week.

it wouldnt even get sanctioned if he had to lose that much weight in that time.

Im not disputing that hatton blows up in between fights but 42 lbs in 2 weeks
sounds like bullshit to me.

I know a few middles who only walk around at 13 stone when they do no training, Hatton always looks like a skeleton when he weighs in, he'll be right on the weight but loosing 2 1/2 stone for every fight 3-4 times a year will shorted he carrer buy a few years.

Im just going on what i was told by a boxer, he said hatton was 13 stone weather thats bollocks or not thats what he said to me, what would be acceptable weight to loose in two weeks, and if he was weight checked and my man is correct is this why the fight was put back in the first place.

Quite possibly, I haven't actually seen the BBBofC guidelines, does anyone know where I can get a copy, whenever I phone the BBBofC, nobody answers the bastard phone, same thing goes for the ABA too.

HANG ON A MINUTE, a minute ago it was "last week when I saw him....."

heres my take and this is just the times Ive seen him on the tv sand what Ive heard form other far more knoweldgable people than myself, he would have been around 12 stone plus (probs about 12.5) when he was on tv for the Cotto / Pacman commentary.
He said on there he was getting in training then so that would have been around 4-5 weeks ago at a guess, I cant be arsed to look it up, so then he woudl have been weighing heavy say 170 30 odd + pounds over the weight. Since then I would anticpate that with steady diet control and training he would have lost 4-5 pounds a week average over all probably quicker at the start, when he was tv marching Gomez into the ring he didnt look that far off how he looks when he enters the ring facially, leaving the final push towards the weight in the week coming up to the fight, then obviously rehydrating and then going in to the ring at around 11 stone.

So 35ish pounds over 4-5 weeks possible, 42 over 2 weeks impossible just my take. Sorry mate I dont mean to be in anyway rude I was just in shock....... :TU:

I dont really know what the rules are but i know a few fighters and the do normally try to keep within a stone of the fighting weight all the time, i thought it was bollocks myself but the fights are always being put back for injuries etc. i thought he was being looked after by a top neutritionist, seems a bit funny to me.

According to Buzz (who has a good inside position on the Manchester fight scene), Hatton was over 12 stone on May 15. That means he would have to shed at least half a stone a week leading up to June 12.

faie enough steve, I do think that hatton has sufffered from demotivation for this fight in particular hence the exceptional ballooning this time, I couldnt believe how fat he looked when commentating, I was also pretty gutted at that point as with 3 weeks to go as someone rightly pointed out to me, theres no way he will fight on the 5th (and i had tickets)

I really like hatton and so do alot of people on this site and many more, the guy does graft like a mad fornicator in the gym, and in the past fwankie boy has also made comments, and i know this might sound like a piss take but he was in disney for his hols, i've been there and you do come back a fat fornicator, my point is hatton given the right fights etc can be a legend, walking around anymore than 1 and a bit stone above his fight weight will shorten his career by years, then who we going to watch beating people up at the MEN :TU:

To put this into perspective.

You CAN lost 42 lbs in 2 weeks, it's just not very good for you. James Toney had to lost 25lbs in weight in 24 hours! Which is what happened before his big fight with Jones, toney had apparently been training like a slob, and was at any case well and truly outgrowing middleweight by that stage.

The problem is of course that you increase the risk of getting totally fucked late in the fight, and also of sustaining brain injuries due to the fact that the brain takes longer to rehydrate than the normal body tissues.

However, the lighter the weight, the more deleterious the effect of losing the same amount of weight. If Hatton is weighing in at 12 stone between fights, 168 (fornicating super middleweight no less), and has to lose 42 lbs, then that is a whopping 25% of his body weight!

We could do with finding out what he weighed at the check weigh in by the bbbofc in the last couple of weeks, but i bet they dont release that info

Losing 42 lbs in two fornicating months isn't wise. If he has had to lose over two stone in five weeks, that isn't wise either.

But what does that do to your body if your in a war, you end up fucked thats the bottom line.
