I also vote for Kovalev, as he did to Hopkins what nobody else could.

Canelo's decision over Lara was highly questionable, and Angulo was already shot. Cotto's win over Martinez looks good on paper but is tainted by Sergio's condition.

Loma should be on the list, as he got a belt in his third professional fight.

Pacquiao, in my opinion. A lot of good candidates, but Canelo doesn't deserve to be in this list. Guys like Naoya Inoue are much more deserving. I also think that Orlando Salido should be included, because he beat future ATG Vasyl Lomachenko (even if it was a very close fight and Salido was overweight) and KO'ed Terdsak Kokietgym in the Fight of the year. Salido is far from the best P4P fighter in the world, but so was Glen Johnson when he was named the Fighter of the year by The Ring Magazine.

Roman Gonzalez and Naoya Inoue (IF he beats Narvaez) are the 2 standouts. It'll likely go to some US based fighter at 135 or above as that's how these things go whether the fighter winning it deserves it or not.

Wins over Hernandez and Narvaez would be as good as anything anyone has done this year, especially if he can manage to stop the Argentinian. Don't forget many felt Lara was at least deserving of a draw with Canelo

Inoue hasn't beat Narvaez yet, so you can't count that.

Beating Lara is better than beating Hernandez.

Alvarez didn't beat Lara, he barely defeated him by the closest possible margin officially and lost to him on many people's unofficial cards. And I can't remember any fighter in the history to be in the mix for the "Fighter of the year" after barely defeating one borderline top-30 P4P fighter (Lara) and beating a guy, who isn't even in top-200 P4P (Angulo).

Inoue hasn't beaten any top 30 P4P fighters. Hernandez probably wasn't a top 50 P4P fighter.

Canelo - Angulo, Lara - Angulo sucks, close fight with p4p ranked Lara, gets credit for getting the dec.
Cotto - Martinez - Excellent achievement to win the belt but Martinez was shot and Cotto is no middleweight.
Mayweather - Maidana(2x) - lol
Pacquiao - Bradley, Algieri - Bradley is the best name on this list, a solid top 4 p4p. Utterly dominated undefeated LWW champ Algieri.
Walters - Darchinyan, Donaire - 2 very good wins, but both guys blown up, more a win on size than skill imo.
Gonzalez - Kantun, Purisima, Yaegashi, Fuentes - 4 stoppages, but all guys beaten before.

For best wins, Pacquiao by a distance. Nobody came close to beating a fighter in the calibre of Bradley. I'd maybe go with Canelo behind him for beating Lara.

For best performances, I'd go with Golovkin, with Kovalev, Pacquiao & Gonzalez not too far behind.

Well, for now (until he beats Narvaez) Inoue doesn't deserve to be in the mix for the "Fighter of the year", here I agree. But neither is Canelo. He definitely doesn't deserve to be mentioned as a "Fighter of the year" candidate

I had Lara winning the fight. Did he run? Yes, but Canelo barely touched him. It was another unimpressive performance from Canelo after being completely outclassed, outboxed and outsmarted by Floyd Mayweather. I still can't understand, how some people see him as a "special" talent.

I don't think poll must contain 10 names exactly. Only the fighters who have some credibility to be named as a fighter of the year. And Canelo definitely doesn't belong to this list.

Yes. Hopkins showed he was still world class and he was clearly a top 3 ranked light heavyweight. It was a very good win for Kovalev.
