Who wins: Shanon briggs vs Junior dos santos...
Re: Who wins: Shanon briggs vs Junior dos santos...
Briggs is a former heavyweight champion of the world, still in decent enough shape, and holds a world record for 1st round KO's. I find these question a bit ridiculous, of course he'd beat someone who isn't even a boxer.
Briggs will probably fight Wladimir. Wladimir is paying Briggs a few quid for a reason, he wants to boost his US profile. Wlad seems like he has a fair amount of integrity though, so he might only be interested in the Youtube exposure rather than a fight, but I wouldn't be shocked if it happened.

Sure, got his number?
I'll give him a ring and say "High Dana, if any of your goons could actually box, then they would do so and sign with a boxing promoter, and make at least 10x more per fight than you pay them".

“Who knows? Maybe Junior dos Santos could go in and knock out Klitschko or something. To say, 'Absolutely not, it could never happen.' We couldn't say that,” he said at Thursday’s UFC 166 media day in Houston. “Anybody could get caught on any given night. Anything can happen. I don't want to see it. I don't want to see this sh-t, f--king running at him and grabbing him. It's embarrassing. I wouldn't want to put Junior in there to do that. Listen, if Klitschko fought, if he actually fought -- what he does isn't fighting".
“I saw the Klitschko brothers in Los Angeles one time. They're f--king monsters. They're huge,” he said. “But how are you going to fight a guy that doesn't want to fight? That guy doesn't want to fight anybody. He wants to grab you by your f--king head and lay on you. Literally, to the point it's embarrassing. Where he runs and grabs on to you. It's f--king disgusting.”
Holding is bad, but humping another man on the floor for 5 minutes is much worse.

That Anderson Silva had a go at boxing, didn't come out for the second round on his debut, had another fight 7 years later, knocked the lad out in second round, opponent was a debutant and hasn't fought since. I go back to what I'll always say when this debate comes up, in an MMA fight, a boxer has a chance of winning if they can stay on their feet, because there's a chance they'll land something big, in a boxing match, an MMA fighter has no chance of winning.hurricanemitch14 wrote:shannon briggs would smoke jds.......if junior can box so damn good why isnt he.........hed make poo ton more money boxing.........same oh poo with silva/diaz ur so good come get some

Re: Who wins: Shanon briggs vs Junior dos santos...
Apples and Oranges...
In a boxing match, I'd argue that a boxer on the lower end of the top 100 could beat a top UFC fighter.
In an mma match, I'd argue that an mma on the lower end of the top 100 could beat a top boxer.
Case in point.... Ray Mercer vs. Kimbo Slice... sure people will cite Mercer vs. Sylvia... but the fact remains that for a boxer MMA is such a crap shoot that you can lose on any given night to a wide variety of fighters of various skills and abilities and rank...
So, the reverse is also true for a mma fighter who would pursue boxing... take Lucas Browne... had he made his pro debut against a Shannon Briggs-type he would of been knocked the spark out... instead Browne went about it smart and started from the bottom up, and Browne was at one point the top man in all the Pacific in mma.
The only 'successful' boxer in mma.... was Jeremy Williams, and even he retired before getting over the next slump in competition. But that is a bit skewed, cus Williams originally was a competitor in Judo. So he had at least 2 disciplines under his belt. A text-book boxer 99 out of 100 (in my view) will lose to a mixed martial artist.
Limit the mixed martial artist to one discipline... same deal. Probably the best man with fists in all of mma I'll argue could be Andrei Arlovski, as he's trained off and on for years with Freddie Roach and others. But the fact he never went into pro boxing, though he hinted that he would--- goes to show you he knows his own limitations.

JDS.
Briggs is old. Has no activity in the ring and is not in shape.
