Khan Alexander and undercard

Post by Cyclops »

Suppose I should start this off... Abner Mares vs Jose Ramirez. Fun fight. Ramirez just took a standing count. Proper phone booth fight. Very good.

Another great round! Ramirez goes down, apparently from a body shot, but is up so fast and fighting again it doesn't get counted. Really good fight. Both guys just wat to row. No running here.

Ramirez goes down hard... Sits on his arse for a long time, and get's up close to the end of the count... In Britain they'd stop that there.

Ramirez's corner pulls him out. Good fight. Quite one sided, but entertaining.

Bundu is fairly unknown on the world scene but in the UK we know him quite well and he is a quality, decent fighter. If Thurman smashes him it is a statement. And if he struggles, it is no disgrace. He should win though....

Bundu down already in the first... He got back up again though. Thurman seems in first gear. Lets see how round 2 goes...

Bundu lands one good shot... Thurman seems to be going for the KO now, loading up. He's winning all the rounds whatever

Crowd booing I don't know why... Thurman winning and still gunning for the KO. We all know, if you have the power it will come don't try for it. It's when people chase it they fornicate up. Still, it's pretty one sided for Thurman.

Crowd still booing

Thuman dominating. Crowd booing. I think they don't know who Bundu is and think he's a tomato can. But he's better than that. Thurman looking mustard.

Well, half way. I can't give Bundu a round. and there's been the knockdown in the first. I think Thurman will get a stoppage late. Bundu's tough though. He might last the distance. I wonder what Thurman's stamina is like in the championship rounds?

Well, if Bundu won a round, it was that one. Thurman still loading up. He should just box.

Not much from either guy in the 9th. Bundu comes forward, Thurman dances around and away. Thurman throws more punches, but most get blocked. Still, Thurman on workrate alone. More booing.

Thurman boring everyone. Thurman needed to have broken his opponent down if he's gonna move none stop. Hasn't happened.

He didn't drop a round, and as I said at the start I think most people haven't seen or know Bundu but he's a good fighter. Durable, unbeaten. But he couldn't really do anything in there. There was no KO, and I think Thurman was trying for it. For sure.

However, based on this Floyd has nothing to worry about but in the same breath this performance won't make fans want to see Floyd fight him.

Crowd still booing the decision! What the eff! He won wide! We've had some crappy main events in the UK recently. This was better than Bellow/Cleverley or Chisora/Fury. Americans! It wasn't that bad.

Thurman calling out Maidana (who's in the crowd). Great. Has Maidana had a boring fight? Love 'em both. Make that one!

Well, in the same way they don't get football because there's sometimes only one or two goals (or sometimes none at all) some might say they want an all action smashathon boxing match otherwise they're not impressed.

But then they love Floyd so I don't think that theory holds any weight at all.

I hope these two champion level fighters. Khan and Alexander actually try to land punches on each other instead of bear hugs.
