That article is absurd.

there is no way in hell that Canelo vs Cotto is a co-main event.

He moves Canelo/Cotto to the undercard as a co-main event for the Mayweather/Pacquiao fight. Canelo/Cotto are now a part of the largest fight in history, won’t have to compete, and won’t lose money.

Ofcourse it loses money.

Cotto vs Canelo on it's own could do 1m+ buys. If you put it on a Mayweather vs Pacquiao card that people were going to buy anyway, you essentially put Cotto vs Canelo on it for free.

The idea of Cotto vs Canelo for Cinco De Mayo though is a real spanner in the works. It does place Mayweather somewhat in checkmate, because Goldenboy & top Rank will be co-promoting this fight, they will dominate the hispanic buyers. Bob isn't going to run 2 shows at once either, so it leaves Floyd vs Khan... Showtime aren't stupid enough to throw money at promoting this in an attempt to compete with Cotto vs Canelo on Cinco De Mayo.

If Canelo vs Cotto goes ahead, Mayweather won't fight on the same night and will be left with his tail between his legs.
