Adonis is the lineal champ and is the bigger draw who earns more than Kovalev. Based upon Kovalev's earnings from his fight with BHop, Kovalev needs Adonis a lot more than Adonis needs him.

Isn't Kovalev fighting Pascal around the same time.

Adonis is the lineal "champ", and Kovalev is THE champ who fights anybody who dares to step in the ring with him instead of handpicked opposition. Similar to Cotto/Golovkin situation.

Fonfara looked like he regressed in his last fight with Ngumbu or is Stevenson simply that vulnerable that he made Fonfara look like a world beater?

Kovalev will be earning more against Pascal than Adonis probably has earned in his career. Lineal champ means nothing when you blatantly duck your biggest challenge and fight fringe level opposition at best instead.

Dariusz unified the light heavyweight titles, at least until they were unjustly taken away.

Adonis the Duck will never even try, he'll just milk the WBC belt.

Wow, truly terrible matchmaking if this happens. If Stevenson beats Fonfara again while Kovalev beats Pascal, I think most people will start to consider Kovalev the true #1 in the division. In fact I'm sure a lot of people already do.

Any chance Fonfara learns from his mistakes and pulls the upset?

It will be Stevenson who have learned from his mistakes. This time, he will give Fonfara no chances.

I don't believe in Stevenson's claim to begin with. His linearity comes from Roy Jones Jr, who was argurably never the linear champ anyways. In addition to that, he beat Chad Dawson after Dawson lost to Andre Ward in a fight that took place under the 175 lb limit for light heavyweight. I know, it was a "super middleweight fight". So what? How many light heavyweight champs of antiquity came in way under 175 for fights? Plenty. The division didn't even exist 40 years ago. Now look at how Chad Dawson's looked subsequent to the Stevenson loss. Go ahead and tell me how he proved that he was the best fighter in the division beating a guy who couldn't defeat Tommy Karpency two fights later.

What's irritating is that Eleider Alvarez is also promoted by Yvon Michel and he would be a much fresher and more interesting matchup than Fonfara.

Mohammedi would be a marginal improvement, if an improvement at all. He looked good against Dudchenko but Dudchenko is not exactly a world beater and Mohammedi was KO'd by Sukhotsky a few years ago which does not bode well.

Ask Joe Public who these guys are. Vast majority won't know any of them including Kovalev. They need to boost the profile of these guys and try to get the public interested in Stevenson and Kovalev. Simple Marketing 101.

Joe Public doesn't know who Adonis Stevenson is either. Anyone who knows who Stevenson is knows who Kovalev is.

I see a lot of arguments like this, this guy need that guy more than blah blah blah

the 2 of them are the 2 strongest in the division by an absolute country mile, they should fight each other, end of!
