Part of a memo sent out to Englands amateur boxing clubs last week. (Englands coaches holding professional licences had previously been told that they could continue to train boxers and corner them at club shows but not in national or international tournaments.)
A further amendment to the guidelines was sent to you on 11 December (no CN14-037), on behalf of the Technical & Rules Subcommittee, stating that Professionally Licensed Coaches were now able to corner/coach at club shows.
I am sorry to inform you that the information given in that December statement was incorrect.
Since providing the statement we have received unequivocal confirmation from AIBA that coaches with a Professional Licence CANNOT corner or coach at a show at any level, not even at club shows.
Unfortunately, there is no flexibility in this stance and this is the position that we must take.
UK Pros cannot corner amateurs. The US next?

AIBA would not be able to enforce that in the US nor could USA Boxing. The country is too big geographically. USA Boxing could enforce it on the national level but never local. AIBA needs to chill out and quit micromanaging.Tarquin Tarpaulin IV wrote:Part of a memo sent out to Englands amateur boxing clubs last week.
