i dont understand. is this a thign of short period with nbc? 6 fighters, they fight, it lasts 1 year or so,than what? than back to showtime trying to make ppv numbers?

or is nbc also on ppv?

I guess PPV will be coming later, this is about building the brand. Then will the over-the-top network be put in place side stepping the HBO/Showtime duopoly.

I'm curious what sorta purses guys are getting before I'll speculate on guys going back to Showtime. Why would you even go back to regular Showtime if you can get near Showtime or outright Showtime money & have more people see you?

I think that whole remark Stephen Espinoza made coulda been Al honeydicking him about this situation. I mean "hey were moving all our guys over to NBC when you are in the near worst situation possible, but don't worry we'll be back" don't sound all that good I'd imagine from Stephen's pov unless you do some spinning. lol. I can see Sam Watson patting Stephen on the back now looking at him all heartfelt & sh!t & then Sam calling Al on his Razr phone saying "yea he went for it".

I think doing a PPV thing after you build guys up makes sense, but I see a lot of people turning away from PPV these days so idk about that even. The UFC & WWE got their own subscription services (UFC Fight Pass & WWE Network) these days & I seen the WWE is knocking down $7M+ a month with that service (700k+ subscribers @ $9.99 a pop). The UFC isn't publicly traded so their results haven't been released that I'm aware of. I'm sure they aren't doing WWE numbers though.

Therefore I would not be surprised if Al took the WWE, UFC subscription route & cut out the middleman at some point. This ain't all the way there yet, but I think people are more apt to paying $10 a month vs $60-$70 two or three times a year. Like the poker saying goes, you can shear a sheep many times, but you can only skin him once. I think you bring back some boxing fans or create new ones by charging them $10 a month vs $60-$70 for each time boxing catches their fancy.

A subscription over-the-top network seems to be the new PPV, with the benefit of no geographic restrictions that being tied to cable networks causes. Remember Haymon is paying NBC so this current state of play isn't his end game.
