with froch out will hearn still make the brook card ppv

Post by rio »

Despite this originally being part of the froch undercard before the vegas event do you think hearn will be a greedy twat again like the bellow/clev saga and still make it ppv and put on a "bumper undercard" all of which are really piss poor matches?

I can't see Brook facing a 'big name' straight off the bat.

IBF top 15 -

1. Jo Jo Dan
2. Not Rated
3. Timothy Bradley
4. Amir Khan
5. Frankie Gavin
6. Shawn Porter
7. Robert Guerrero
8. Devon Alexander
9. Sadam Ali
10. Diego Chaves
11. Kevin Bizier
12. Antonin Decairie
13. Fredrick Lawson
14. Josesito Lopez
15. Yoshihiro Kamegai

Which of those names are PPV?

Eddie is many things, but he's not daft. With no Froch show as part 2 of the event, he can't make it PPV which in turn means less money in the budget to pay Kell's opponent, he'll be looking to pay a purse in the tens of thousands not the kind of six digit purse needed to bring over a top name. I anticipate it will simply be the cheapest opponent they can find. Ultimately it's a first defence home coming event. They are usually one sided and there isn't the budget to entice a big name.

He's not daft but he has proven to be greedy in the past. The bellow/clev fight was meant to be on the undercard of the brook ppv.....brook gets injured but hearn still keeps it ppv. Exactly the same situation that we are currently looking at.

No as there only two fights on the list that are even PPV worthy in Bradley and Khan and the opponent is either.

I think it would depend on how much the Bellew/Clev PPV did in buys and whether Sky were happy with this. I don't think Brook is PPV, with or without the stable is on the undercard in easy fights.

Neither Barry or Eddie Hearn are stupid. They know that the Bellew - Cleverly PPV was a flop, despite doing big numbers in the context of things.

A Sheffield card with Brook facing someone like Dan (1) or Decairie (12) with a decent undercard (G McDonnell in another step up, WBO eliminator or top 30 ranked opponent and C Smith in another WBC eliminator would not be bad support.) On normal Sky, maybe push for SS1 billing, builds profile for a relatively unknown world champion in relation to how well known Khan is and Hatton was.

Consequently from that, Brook could become a PPV fighter with big names wanting to come over here and fight and big stadium fights against the likes of Khan.

Profile is more important in the long term right now for Hearn, in my opinion.

Brook vs Kamegai would be bloody good fun and Yoshi has been cheap in the past, said he wants a world title fight and although undeserving would be give a hell of a fight.

I see Andre Berto isn't currently in the top 15.

I voted no. Surely Eddie realises that virtually no-one would buy it.

Very much doubt it. There may be some questionable PPVs in the future but I don't think there'll be anymore joke PPVs.

I voted yes.

He is contracted, i believe, to deliver a certain number of ppv events and he cant afford to ditch one. Also, the bellew clev fight has shown that no matter what drivel he puts on, if the marketing is right he can sell it.

This simply cant be a PPV- Hearn would be risking serious damage to reputation

Surely if Sky demand x amount of PPV's he has to oblige as they are Eddies masters. For me only Froch is PPV so any other fights he puts on are undeserving unless they are a huge UK then US card after but that has to be bloody good.

No way Hearn makes this PPV. I think the Cleverly one hurt him. Personally I mean, and I don't think he will fall into that trap again.
