Alvarado v Rios tonight

Post by palooka »

A good match up tonight; the rubber match between Mike Alvarado v Brandon Rios; the first 2 bouts were excellent and both seem to have faded a touch. Who's gonna win and then is it going to be a shootout?

Most reviews I've seen lean towards Rios stopping Alvarado.

Neither guy known as being a defensive master It will more than likely end up a shootout.

They've both had some hard fights the last few years not including their previous 2 battles I might stick a few quid on the draw just for an interest but I feel Rios will stop him.

Sure Alvarado has had some legal issues recently.

Bookies over here have this even guarantee it won't be boring.

Personally think Brook should fight the winner in Vegas if he can't fight Khan after Jo Jo Dan.

Let's hope it's not a shoot out, Mike is on bail.

Alvarado has proven to have the better skills, and he's taken less of a beating than Rios so i think he will nick it on pts. no way Rios gets stopped though.

I was tempted to go large on Rios to win by ko at 7/4 as the talk was Alvarado hasn't trained well for this.

Good fight, can't wait, planning on staying up for this one, hope its like the first 2

I thought that with their styles ,no matter how many time they fought it would always be the same, basically how the first fight was fought although maybe not always Rios coming out on top but Alvarado showed in the rematch he can stay cool and box to orders and was a deserved winner last fight

With the style that both men have though and the wars that both men have been in,either guy could be going into this fight shot,Mike has lost 3 of his last 4 though and hasn't won since the rematch and apart from the DQ win over Chaves last time out,Brandon hasn't had a legit win since the first Alvarado fight so its a tough one to call

I expect Alvarado to box as he did in the last fight but I don't think he has enough left to get the win though

Rios close points for me

Wouldn't mind seeing the winner of this in with Algieri. Would be a fun style matchup by my reckoning.

Not going to stay up for this one, stayed up for last weeks and paid for it Sunday and Monday!

Hoping it's a war and will watch in the morning. I fancy Rios via late stoppage, RD 10 is my pick.

I agree that both look pretty shot to be honest. Rios didn't look great against Chaves and Alvarado lost big to JMM and was stopped against Provodnikov.

Looking forward to seeing the big Mexican SM Ramirez as well. Could well be against our SM's pretty soon :box:

Very one sided 3 round beating dished out by Rios here.

From the first bell Alvarado did not want to be there his career looks over while Rios somewhat revives his.

Alvarado looked shot, Rios couldn't have hit the heavy bag harder or easier.

Rio was like a man possessed, luckily Alvarado looked shot or else Brandon could've shot his bolt ,I never seen an early stoppage beforehand, Rios looked great but hard to tell how he would've fared down the stretch

Good match up,is Algieri still WBO champ at LWW? Or is he planning on staying at 147?

Very disappointing it was so one-sided, glad I didn't stay up for it now.

Same as what I was thinking. Thought Mike might have just been able to get through the storm turn it into a war. Some signs he was firing back right at the end of the 3rd but he didn't have anything left. The poor training camp rumours must've been true.

The SM Ramirez didn't look great either. Really fancied the stoppage in that one.

As Beetle has just said, glad I didn't put the late night shift in!

And no, Chris Algeri no longer has the WBO title, it is vacant last time I checked. Rios looks to have another pay-day coming his way.

Last nights fight reminded me of the Stieglitz-Abraham rematch where Robert came out the blocks blazing before Arthur knew what hit him, dangerous tactics but the sheer shock can overwhelm opponents before they can get going

If I'm right he was stripped when moving up to fight Pac, but moved up solely for that 1 fight.

He makes 140 pretty easy by all accounts and to be honest theres better fights for his style down there and a chance to make very good money.

Rios always gets a pay day win or lose. How many fights in a row has he earnt $1mil plus from i wonder?
