Originally the city was called Semipalatinsk, but renamed to Semey in 1997.

Boxrec.com has correct birthplace. Klitschko was born in military town Solnechnyy (now called Zhangis-Tobe) about 150 km from Semipalatinsk, Kazakhstan where his father served as a military officer in 57 missile division of USSR army.

Since boxrec.com does not have historic locations. It was changed to Zhangiztobe.
