witter ready for cotto
witter ready for cotto
Henessy has said witter is ready and willing to fight cotto.
Do you think he'd come to fight or bottle it like he did judah.
At the moment I wouldnt bet against witter beating Judah, cotto may be a step too afr though, love to see it.

Witter is far more confident in his own ability now than he was when he fought Judah, so yeah, i think he'd at the very least make a fight of it. Cotto, although he looks like he's got everything he needs to be the top dog at this weight, has never faced someone as awkward as Witter can be. I think Cotto is good enough to find a way to win, but it would be an interesting fight. I can't see it happening soon though, if at all.
He'd come to fight. Witter has improved, and his fighting style is more aggressive. Also, remember he was a late replacement against Judah, but thinking about it, that maybe his best chance to get a fight with Cotto, it wouldn't be unlike Pinto to pull out.
I think a better fight would be the Urkal one that has been mentioned. It's more winnable, and still against a top 10 opponent. I dont think any contender should be advised to fight Cotto unless he holds a title, or if they are REALLY struggling to secure an alternative big fight.

I wonder if Tyson would want to "get to know him better". I doubt it. He can't even secure a world title fight for a WBC number one (Eastman) so what chance does he have of getting Cotto?
PS: Knockout Artist, check out ringtalk.com. And forgot to mention yesterday that Burt and Leslie McCarthy now run their own website (boxingaction.com). It's a good site.

Witter with a silent S
Junior Witter? don't make me laugh, Cotto would destroy him the same way as ALL of the Ingle stable have been destroyed when faced with on- the-up real world class fighters
Witter is a coward, he blew his chance when he fought Zab Judah and was a disgrace. He run off to the safety of the BBC's shows when he thought the Hatton fight was drawing closer. Hennesssey and Bredan Ingle can make as much noise as they like the fact is you can't polish a turd!

Why does everyone rate Witter? Of course he looks like SRL when he boxes those type of opponents. When he has fought a class opponent, only once so far - Zab Judah, he ran like a thief. Witter and the other Ingle fighters all get found out so don't waste your time with Witter who is just riding on Hatton's back whilst waiting for a payday not a win. Hatton will do Witter purely on heart and grit. Witter will go the same way as the rest of the Ingle camp when he gets hit on the whiskers. Wait and see....
i've been on and off the Witter bandwagon. Offensively his talents are for all to see. Whoever he's fighting you can see he's awkward, quick, flashy and hits hard. Ok you could say that he's KOd over a dozen bums in a row, and you wont be far off, but you can see the velocity of the punches, they are like rockets. I still have doubts about his ability to take a punch, and at a higher level...his defence.

If your man Frank is so sure of this, why didn't he make the fight years ago, and give the public the match they wanted, instead of putting Ricky in with an endless stream of overmatched lightweights?
To the public, it looks like SPORTS NOTWORK seriously doubt Hatton would win this fight.
Far too harsh, as was your previous post about Junior. I think he has grown in confidence and would give problems to any light-welter out there. The Ingle camp are progressing well I think.xtremebox wrote:Why does everyone rate Witter? Of course he looks like SRL when he boxes those type of opponents. I think it would be quite an even fight. Hatton won't allow Witter the luxury of fighting on his own terms, and will push him on the back foot.
Witter looks good in offence, but his defence is very leaky, he thrashes around with his arms and leaves his chin hanging in the air. He reminds me of Six Heads Lewis, looks great, but watch more closely, and you see a lot of technical flaws there.
I would like to see the fight happen at some stage, hopefully when they both have a world title belt.

Ah yes, but it's much harder to avoid being hit to the body than the head, and body shots are the ideal way to slow down a fighter with good wheels.
However, it's what's happening whilst Ricky goes to the body that matters, if Witter is slapping the shit out of him, then I can imagine Ricky becoming discouraged. I don't think Hatton can outbox Witter, there's too much of a speed differential, but he can outwork him and grind him down.
The question is whether or not Witter can hurt Hatton, if he can, then it's a hard nights' work for Ricky.
