AIBA, the governing body that controls amateur boxing (or what it used to be) recently started their own professional boxing league called APB (AIBA Pro Boxing). It is a tournament involving top amateurs as well as about a dozen existing professional boxers. They have recently crowned the first titlists in their 10 weight divisions.
The fights are fought under professional rules (10 point must system, 3 judges, no headgear or vest) and the fighters are paid a purse per bout. All fighters who participate are eligible to fight in the Olympic games.
BoxREC has thus far refused to list the fights in the professional boxing database. So, for anyone who happens to be interested, here are the first 10 APB titlists:
Super Heavyweight (200lbs +)
Champion: Eric Pfeiffer (Germany) Record: 4-0, (0KO)
Notes: World Champion Mago Medzhidov was 2-0-1, 2 KO’s
Heavyweights (200lbs)
Champion: Aleksey Egorov (Russia) Record: 4-0, 0KO
Notes: Multi-Olympic medalist Clemente Russo was 2-2

Middleweight (165lbs)
Champion: Adem Kilicci (Turkey) Record: 4-0 (0KO)

Notes: Professional Marcos Nader (18-1-1 coming in) was 0-2 and KO’d in both fights

Most of the existing professionals did quite poorly. Out of the dozen or so, only one became a titlist (Djelkhir).

Is there a boxrec type website that tracks the records of the people participated in these AIBA fights (& WSB fights cuz I believe they are the same sorta deal, no typical amateur attire, etc)? I'd be interesting in seeing a website like that if one doesn't exist.
Personally I'm glad boxrec doesn't track these fights. Despite the perimeters being more in line with pro fights instead of amateur in most regards I feel like their more semi-pro type fights if we are throwing a label on them. Plus I love the idea of more tiers in the sport that separates higher & lesser skilled boxers. I'd like to see some tiers thrown in the pro game we're all used to.
