Don't recall any kind of announcement that he has retired but it certainly seems like he has decided to move on.

Trainer Beristain says that Marquez suffered a knee injury before his win over Alvarado last May.
The Mexican had planned to fight again during the later part of 2014 but reinjured the knee during training.
Beristain says that Marquez' future depends on his knee rehab and that he will fight again if it responds favorably.
Otherwise, at 41, Marquez may have fought his final bout.

I was thinking that just today as there has been no news for a while. But i think the Mexicans don't retire they just stop fighting if you know what i mean. I don't think Barrera or Morales ever announced retirements did they? They just never get around to their next fight...

I'm not sure though I've wondered also. I hope he doesn't fight Kell, I'd rather see him get Khan.

Top Rank & Mikey & Julio Jr have had issues. Julio is being sued by TR right now. Mikey just dropped a suit or dropped most of the issues with a suit iirc.
Andre had a long issue with Goosen til he wa signed with RocNation & now he's got issues with HBO in that he wants tuneup fights & HBO wants him to fight more important guys it sounds like.
The whole thing with Peter is just weird. I imagine there is some beef with RocNation & Peter's advisor, Al Haymon going on. But I don't believe Peter is just looking for bigger fights cuz he had his biggest money fight in his hand & turned it down & sat instead of fight. He could have easily beaten a guy he'd have been heavily favored over for his best payday & than wait on PBC to get started & fight for another career high payday it would seem like. Maybe he just took time off to spend with his kid who was recently born idk, but that makes more sense then anything else to me.
Carl definitely is just looking for bigger fights like I'd say Juan Manuel is, but most of these guys I expect to be more active once they sort out there issues. Paulie M would have been a better example than most of the guys you listed.

Yes, it's sad that so many of today's top fighters spend more time mulling lawsuits and other legal avenues than they do climbing into the ring.

Fighters r more educated in the business aspect so they dont get screwed as bad by promoters. Im sure they still get screwed tho.

I think these contracts promoters come up with & fighters sign got so many disputable things in them you gotta hire a lawyer to review it when you sign it (& I bet most fighters don't, just the biggest names going in probably do) & then hire a lawyer to review it when you are trying to be released from it just to confirm everything is on the up & up & that the contract is over.
Supposedly there are a bunch of things that could be extending your contract that guys don't even realize & you gotta consult with lawyers just to know if you're outta contract on most occasions. I think I heard that about one of the people I listed although I don't remember who (mighta been Mikey as Mikey is about the most standup, respectable, everyman type of guy who's got contract issues these days).
I'd love to see fight by fight contracts be the norm. Not sure the likelihood of that ever being a reality, but I think as a fan we'd get more of the fights we wanna see sooner if that was how things were.
