Berto beats porter
Berto beats porter
My eyes from what I've seen, Berto would beat Porter. I see there are a lot of Berto haters out there. But give your take.
Re: Berto beats porter
I thought berto looked bad and will be betting big against him if he fights anyone near porters level and the odds are decent.

I don't think Berto beats Alexander let alone Porter.
Re: Berto beats porter
I doubt it, Porter isn't a quitter like Josesito.

Idk that many are randomly hating on Andre. I think he just looked pretty meh vs Josesito til the KO. I think Andre vs Shawn isn't a bad fight to make for either guy. I'd probably lean towards Shawn myself, but I think its a competitive fight.

Re: Berto beats porter
Porter should be targeting bigger names, beating Berto does nothing for him unless they give him a big payday for it.
I'd love to see Porter/Bradley but sadly promotional politics will prevent it from happening.

Re: Berto beats porter
Idk that Shawn is necessarily in the running for THAT big of names at the moment. I mean even with Andre's current status he's still up there enough that options are scarce above him. I think outside of Keith calling up Shawn, Andre makes the most sense with what the 147lb landscape looks like right now.jujigatame wrote:Porter should be targeting bigger names, beating Berto does nothing for him unless they give him a big payday for it.

And I'm sure the money is there. Andre took home $800k vs Josesito & Shawn took home $500k for Bone who was a replacement for Robert Garcia. Porter supposedly only got $500k for the Kell L. I think Shawn easily gets a career high purse vs Andre.
Re: Berto beats porter
Berto lost somewhat recently to Ortiz, Guerrero, and Soto Karass. Porter beat Alexander. IMO, Porter > Alexander = Guerrero > Ortiz = Berto > Karass. I think Porter beats Berto. I think there is mild / moderate evidence that Shawn Porter is in the top 10, and strong evidence that Berto is not in the top 10.

I think Porter stops Berto.

Re: Berto beats porter
No doubt in my mind that Porter stops Berto. He was not impressive against Josesito at all.

Re: Berto beats porter
I'd enjoy a Berto/Porter fight very much because Berto doesn't know the word "quit". Brook did expose Porter badly and gave a blueprint on how to beat him. I would rather see a Thurman/Berto fight. Thurman>Brook>Berto>Porter. I'm also sick of hearing how much of a warrior Jososito Lopez and John Molina Jr are. Hopefully, we've seen the last of them two idiots.
Re: Berto beats porter
The matchup between Andre Berto and Shawn Porter is appealling for a number of reasons, the clash of styles making for an aggressive contest due to their reputations is among the driving forces that some may consider it potentially very entertaining.
Shawn Porter is a high intensity fighter who carries a decent shot but also has the ability to wear an opponent down based merely on the volume of punches he throws at times, his style certainly can't be described as a pure bred boxer.
Porter can work in the trenches though and his stamina and gas tank are well supplied from his conditioning, although his boxing ability can be penetrated as it's not his strong point.
Andre Berto is a bit more cautious but also likes to mix it up and get involved in unnecessary brawls, that said he has the skill and can box when he wants to which can activate a number of decent weapons within his style, from time to time he has single punches that can be accurate and point scorers on the cards.
Bertos chin has been suspect which could be his achilles heel, its stood up most of the time but is under constant scrutiny and threat from opponents the longer his career progresses.
It's a tough call to pick a winner, I think most people know what Shawn Porters plan will be but Andre Berto may have to alter his approach during the fight depending on the circumstances.
If it kicks off right from the get go and becomes a long war I'd lean toward Shawn Porter, if Berto can keep control and work behind his natural ability and be patient it could well go his way.

The first true aspect of this fight. Pay attention since the new trainer.Evander wrote:The matchup between Andre Berto and Shawn Porter is appealling for a number of reasons, the clash of styles making for an aggressive contest due to their reputations is among the driving forces that some may consider it potentially very entertaining.

Re: Berto beats porter
Agreed. I think at this stage Berto would be a good tune up fight for someone like Khan. I wouldn't consider Berto any more than a gatekeeper at this point. Hope he proves me wrong though and makes a full comeback and earns his way back up in the top 10.Lackeos wrote:Berto lost somewhat recently to Ortiz, Guerrero, and Soto Karass. Porter beat Alexander.
