It is a good match, I'll look forward to watching this; i hope Carson recognises the risk he faces with Smith, if he underestimates Liam he will get beat, if he's on form it'll be some scrap.

Great fight, Smith takes it by late stoppage for me.

But what has happened to the Liam Williams fight? Smith hasn't defended his British title in almost a year.

At least it will be competitive, Abril v Matthews is going to be over VERY quickly.

Gobsmacked he is coming back to the UK after his totally outpriced himself out of a rematch with Brian. I fully expect Liam to terrorise Carson Jones.

Brian had him in allsorts of trouble before he was caught.

Be a good scrap but i expect him to win late stoppage.

Jones wasn't all over the place but he did get hurt, which is a bit of a worry for him considering Rose's lack of pop.
I can't see anything other than a comfortable Smith victory here.

Probably. Be nice to see an upset but can't see Matthews troubling Abril at all.

It's bollocks. I don't think Derry will win the fight but it's not ending early unless Abril gets put on his arse, he's not a puncher.

Derry has always been chinny (7 stoppages in 9 defeats) and these days he's looking distinctly shot, he managed to make that donkey Coyle look world class, he was outboxed by stumpy armed dwarf Ormond, he could only outpoint the 'reluctant' Gethin and novice Dingsdale, even last time out against that Latvian Featherweight he was stunned a couple of times (watch it again) and finished with a mouse under his eye.

He is one of the least deserving 'world title' challengers in history.

As for Abril not 'being a puncher' Lindsay, Ramogoadi, Lawton and Marsili were not 'punchers' but guess what?

They all stopped Matthews.

I think - or part of me thinks - that Derry is getting this crack because fwank wants to block off an available route for matchroom to gain another world champ (crolla, before his awful setback). I wondered if fwank had gone for Carson Jones to scupper plans for a Jones rematch with rose. I'm not slating Frank, Eddie is just as bad, what with the way he helped 'represent' Avalos.

I wouldn't say its to scupper Crolla's shot at all. I think W-a-r-r-e-n saw an oppurtunity when Crolla was injured and pulled out the stops to get Derry the chance instead.

Similar with Carson Jones, by all accounts Jones had priced himself out of rematch with Rose so that wasn't going to happen anyway. W-a-r-r-e-n then realised off the back of the Rose win Jones is a very credaible opponent with a decent name over here and so has pulled out the stops to get him over for Liam.

Well done F-R-A-N-K

I appreciate my view maybe a little baised as im friends with Derry but the Lindsay and Lawton stoppages you can put down to weight draining problems at no point for me has he looked chinny since moving to lightweight

Stopped only by Marsili and Rees at lightweight , and to be fair i think Marsili would stop everyone of the British lightweights and thats the reason despite us having so many talented ones not one of them has selected to go down the european route,

If you think Derry was legitamtley stopped by Ramogadi you obviously havent seen the fight up there with enzo mac vs ovil 1

I'm happy that Derry is getting a shot, he may not win but we're guaranteed that he'll do his very best, he won't bottle it or shut up shop if he gets a hiding. As long as he does a bit more than Nicky Cook.

Burns v Cook was an utter disgrace, should never have been sanctioned (a win over Youssef Al Hamidi after TWO years out does NOT earn a title shot)

But Cook, his trainer, manager etc MUST have known he was in no fit state to fight.

:salut: I agree, it was disgusting - many people wasted their money on tickets, hotels etc and the SKY money could have gone on a better prepared opponent.
