What Does Floyd Weigh On Fight Night?

Post by koolkc107 »

Dug up some things on how much Money rehydrates.

Conclusion? Very little if the available data is to be believed.

Vs. Maidana II: could not find

Vs. Maidana I: 148 (gained 2 lbs)

Vs Canelo: 150 (lost .5 lb)

Other fights:

Thoughts?

And feel free to post other things you find on this topic in this thread.

PS. If the basement data is to be believed, Floyd has actually been lighter in the ring than Manny rehydrated to at some of the lower weights...

I think much of Floyd's fight preparation is underestimated by fans. The guy takes things before the fight more seriously than seemingly anyone around today. People goof on the Hard Work, Dedication line he spits, but I think thats an outlook he has & sticks to. With that said I'd assume he also has a more serious approach to after weigh in activities as well & probably doesn't go quite as wild with eating as many do or he doesn't require it as he isn't "making weight" in the same way the average boxer is.

This isn't new news, it has always been that way for Mayweather with the exception of maybe the JMM fight but the Packy faithful will have you to believe that their man comes in the smaller man against everyone he fights when that just isn't true.

Floyd is a gym rat, naturally lean, and pretty much always stays in shape. Being close to your fighting weight year-round makes it a no-brainer that fight night weights are not huge increases. Guys that are huge drainers gain 12, 15, 18lbs. I know guys I used to wrestle with in college that would gain over 20lbs over night even. I never thought it was a smart thing to do, but it happens more often than you think. At least they control that somewhat at the high school level now.

I like the idea of same day weigh ins, but the money they make on the weigh in event now is too much for that to go away.

We may never see Floyd at 155 or 160 fight night. He may get there after a long layoff, but not while he is active....contrary to those that would like to believe it, and hate Floyd.

Don't you know that Mayweather is the only fighter in history to enter the ring at least 4 pounds lighter than he scaled at the weigh in in every fight?

That's because Floyd is a marvel of modern science that is fighting well above his natural weight class of super-minimum weight.

Truth is Floyd should be fighting babies weighing 42lb but he's so good he wears lead boots to make heavier weight classes and to give the other guy a chance.

I could be wrong, but I can't imagine Manny enters the ring at much more than he weighs in either. They'll be roughly the same weight come fight night is my guess.
