Its lucky the red stopped the fight or this might've happened to that guy's head....

Re: Helenius smashed a little guy
..a mismatch no doubt, good he's back though...
Re: Helenius smashed a little guy
Looks like Helenius got rid of his belly fat. He looks different, motivated. What a pitiful mismatch though. A very weak test of ability. Well, at least he got back into the ring.
Re: Helenius smashed a little guy
The term mis-match gets overused sometimes, but in this case the fight was appalling. Whoever made this fight should face repercussions because that guy could've literally died in that ring. Helenius was twice the guys size, it was just a disgraceful match up.
Re: Helenius smashed a little guy
Either Helenius is 8 feet tall or he just fought a guy who was a light heavy weight...

Little guy had a dope ass chest tattoo I'll give him that.
Nice just to see Robert in action despite the level of competition. He's got a long way to go to get back to pre-Chisora form. That fight seemingly ended his once promising career. Pause button has been pushed for 3 years & change now.

Robert's 6'6, 240. This guy is 5'10 & usually weighs 205ish. Thats obviously is a big size difference, but it did seem even more pronounced in the video.koolkc107 wrote:Either Helenius is 8 feet tall or he just fought a guy who was a light heavy weight...
Re: Helenius smashed a little guy
Csomor's [11-4] the kind of pug you expect to see in with a headliner who's been away almost three years. Obviously, Helenius is not Vitali Klitschko. Hope his next opponent is markedly better.

Re: Helenius smashed a little guy
Size was an obvious factor here, but more important was the fact that Helenius is a big heavyweight puncher and Csomor couldn't take a heavyweight punch - his head was snapping back with nearly every impact. This is the kind of matchup that people put forward to argue that there should be a super heavyweight division, or that the cruiserweight limit should be increased. I strongly disagree - Csomor clearly could fight at cruiserweight if he wanted to.ReggieDiggs wrote:Robert's 6'6, 240. This guy is 5'10 & usually weighs 205ish. I agree that this was a poor and potentially dangerous matchup, seeing as Csomor had been knocked out several times before against inferior opposition and Helenius is a known big puncher (although he seemed to have lost pop in his last few outings, perhaps the layoff has allowed his injuries to fully heal). Let's see Robert in with someone more durable next time.

Re: Helenius smashed a little guy
Glad to see him back, and physically he looks better than ever.
If he can get back to 100%, he is a serious force. Unfortunately, I don't think he will ever get back there. He's already had some serious injuries, both hand and shoulder and those are hard to come back from.
And this opponent was a perfect comeback match. I'd like to see him back in the ring by May at the latest.

Re: Helenius smashed a little guy
Definitely an easy day back at the office for Helenius after a long break.....quick cup of coffee, catch-up on some e-mails.
Now that he's not having to do most of his fighting and training in Germany any more (which I think he really hated) we'll see how he goes.
He's definitely got a bit of talent, big and tall guy with fast and heavy-ish hands and still only 31, and I am guessing he'll fight on shows in Helsinki built around him as well. So he could get back in the mix fairly quickly if he is prepared to knuckle down.
I can't see Fury wanting to hold onto the European belt for long, so perhaps Helenius will try and get that back and build from there? He could set the record straight by giving Del Boy Chisora a rematch....good little test for Helenius and something for Chisora to aim at if he still wants to box.

Re: Helenius smashed a little guy
Who should Helenius fight next?
Re: Helenius smashed a little guy
If Helenius is really back in good health, then why not fight Tyson Fury? He's not doing anything. Then Pulev.
Re: Helenius smashed a little guy
Did he really aim a kick at Helenius just before the stoppage, or was he off balance?
I am not really bothered by Robert at all, Chisora deserved the win in that fight, and he is really only an average fighter.

Helenius was badly injured in that fight. He's miles ahead of Chisora. In fact, that would be a nice easy next fight out for him.Batley18 wrote:I am not really bothered by Robert at all, Chisora deserved the win in that fight, and he is really only an average fighter.

Re: Helenius smashed a little guy
Helenius doesn't strike me as a guy who's super dedicated to his craft. Maybe Ustinov or Boytsov next for him? If he can't beat those guys he's never going to be a contender.

Apparently he was punched in the throat during sparring and suffered vocal cord damage which made him temporarily speak like that.

I got a uncle or two who sound like that. One of them smoked for twenty something years though.
Re: Helenius smashed a little guy
And the soccer video is only from 7 months ago. Temporary could mean a few days, a few months, or longer....though perhaps the source I read was incorrect and he'll permanently speak like that.Coachmanager wrote:Temporaly? this was 5 months ago https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ux0IYqxb-0Icrusader wrote:Apparently he was punched in the throat during sparring and suffered vocal cord damage which made him temporarily speak like that.

Re: Helenius smashed a little guy
If I were managing Helenius, I would match him up against, in the following order:
Kevin Johnson - should at the very least get some rounds
then assuming he's victorious
Dereck Chisora rematch
then do whatever he has to to get a title shot
From what I've seen of Helenius, he has, when fit, crushing power and an iron chin. However, he doesn't dominate from distance like Wlad, doesn't have great punch output or defense and can be outboxed.
