As far finally getting a Mundine fight goes maybe getting dropped by Dawson was the best thing that could have happened to Trout.

A win over Trout would position Mundine nicely for a BIGGER fight against the likes of Canelo or Cotto only beating one of them would he land the BIG one against Mayweather.

Very true. Trout was very keen to fight Mundine at least twice in the past. Seeing Dawson drop him must have been a real eye opener for Mundine.

To be fair they were the only 2 punches Dawson landed pretty well for the whole fight and the first KD was a cracker of a punch, mundine hasn't got the mobility these days to land a punch like that anymore

I can't remember the last time Mundine Koed anyone. He's had a few TKO wins against poor opposition. But actually taking a reasonable quality opponent out. Not in years.
