Nigel Benn vs Tony Sibson

Post by evrenb »

I was watching Sibbo last night in action against Frank Lucas which is a tremendous fight. If anyone hasn't seen it they must watch it. I believe it is oN YOUTUBE. After recent discussion about Benn vs Graham it gots me a thinking what a great match up this would have been. I guess Benn would be favourite because of his world championship pedigree but who's your money on??

I think this works pretty well for sibson stylewise. Long arms underrated jab and skills, massive physical strength and that thunderous left hook.

fvck knows. But i bet it would dead good like.

He was built like a butchers block and he was ferocious. Frankie Lucas was a real tough SOB...I really liked his style. Not sure if it is on YOUTUBE but Sibbo's ko of Bob Coolidge is scary !

Yep Lucas could fight. Amazing story about how he won a commonwealth gold. Looking at his record he was pretty badly managed I think.Thrown to the wolves very early in his career.

this is a terrific british dust up - a sell out in any venue. either man COULD win it but I'm going for tony on durability grounds. probably very late stoppage

the boxing scene in the 70's and 80's was a dirty, cheating, corrupt cesspool filled with sharks and deadly creatures who'd shaft you for a tenner. I loved it. its not the same game nowadays and in many ways its for the better - but I'm like you..it had something magical about it

I would have to go for Sibbo, strong as an ox,deadly left hook too,and i think there were times when Benn was chinny and Sibbo would have nailed him as soon as Benn came rushing in on the attack.

A great match up and one I would pay to see everyday of the week.

I just feel that Benn would maybe wear Sibbo down and take him out in the very late rounds, 11th or 12th. If Sibbo wins, he takes Benn the distance and his greater workrate gives him the nod.

Either way, it would be a crowd pleaser.

Benn by stoppage for me. As good as Sibbo was he tended to come up short at world level and Benn was at that level.
