What's the script with Abril? He's really inactive! Bit of a slap in the face for Derry but could be a blessing in disguise if he's allowed to contest the vacant title against a late stand in!

Fvck gutted for Mathews ,I gave him a decent chance of roughing Abril up and making him pay for his inactivity,

Hopefully for Derry ,Wazza can find one of they dudes who magically appeared in the top 15, hypocritical I know but if anyone's paid their dues its Derry Mathews

A fighter who genuinely wants to fight anyone and doesn't seem to give a toss about politix,old school

Would be interesting to see who they can get in at such short notice.

The dude Zlaticanan (spelling) who beat burns would probably jump at a title shot! He was pretty small so I don't imagine he struggles bad at the weight. Just a thought.

This guy is in the frame number 15 with WBA - They are considering it apparently, although not sure what to believe really, hope Derry still
gets his chance though

Does he not also have Terry Flannagan on his books. Or even Liam Walsh sure both would jump at the chance. Make good fights also both fighters better than Zlaticann and will get sanctioned

Neither are ranked by the WBA, Flanagan should fight for the WBO later this year too.

If Abril vacates it should be between 1 and 2 in their rankings

Both would get moved in easily. It just depends if Warren wants to take a risk with Mathews and a challenger or guarantee the title with both his fighters. No what I would be doing. Remember Derry v Ormond im sure that's in his head

I read that Flanagan struggled at the weight for Ormand & Liam is big for the weight so they will have to have been in training to be anywhere near & with only just over a week to go.

Still if FW can pull it off its a mega chance for Derry to win a World Title, he would have to defend immediatly against no 1 though.

If Derry wins a vacant title then how far away is Crolla from a comeback as they could make good money from going at it again with a title on the line.

Do the WBA not have rules on this? Surely this has happened before with one of their numerous beltholders. If it's standard procedure for them then i guess i can understand it but smells like a load of shite to me.

I agree with Naandrew that the no1 & 2 challengers should fight or have the option to fight. If this goes ahead, as a minimum, the winner should have to fight the no1.

The shows in 9 days, there's no time to move them into the rankings before the fight.

He, surprisingly, wasn't too bad when he fought Kinda on US TV. I was expecting him to be a patsy in that fight, turned he could actually box.

I saw that. Chiefly memorable for being the first time I've seen a fight where you can answer the question "Can he fight?" with the name of one of the participants.

Second time he's pulled out within two weeks of the fight, pulled out of a fight in Russia last May, think there's been other pull outs too and he's only fought twice in the last 2 years. Not even given a reason for pulling out this time and they won't make a statement on it until next week. At some point something had to give and obviously this is it.
