Re: Licensing
The lightweight division was in chaos for years with the National Boxing Association going against the New York State Commission. From 1925 until 1947 each had their own champs, therefore splitting the championship.
Re: Licensing
Thanks ABC
I am trying to find out if there was 1 boxing licensing Org meaning giving the Boxers a license to fight out of Brooklyn?
I did talk to someone back in Brooklyn that worked for the Business licensing and Athletic Licensing but they knew nothing about the 40's fight scene and procedures for acquiring a licensing...
I'm just wondering if we have any resource for that here, or on another site? Or is just the New York Athletic Commission or N.Y. Boxing Association?
Thanx

Re: Licensing
IT'S HARD TO SAY HOW THESE LICENSE WERE BEING USED OR GIVEN BECAUSE THE MAFIA CONTROLLED BOXING UNTIL THE LATE 60'S AND ALSO HAD A LOT TO SAY AS FAR AS COMMISSIONS RUNNING BOXING TOO. ESPECIALLY IN THE EAST COAST.
Re: Licensing
As far as I know a license from the NYSAC was required.ral wrote:Thanks ABC

Re: Licensing
I was finally led to get in touch with "The New York State Archives Cultural Education Center" through all of your suggestions.. So now I am very very close. I have found these new facts and copies of the original form and Notes from The State Athletic Commission Dated Jan 11,1946.
1. License #s
2. Pending LIC. #s
3. Names of Refs/Judges
4. License form for boxers & mgrs
Top Box of form listed lft to rt
Boxer-License No.- Manager- License No. * Nothing at the top of this form is filled out other than the the boxers Name*
Bottom Box
"Record of Exhibitions Engaged In"
* underneath this title reading lft to rt reads *Date-City & State-Club-Opponent- Decisions: W L-Referee-How Decision reached
In the lower Area the fighter is listed On the line that reads Won/Loss
Question-? do these results apply to fighter on this line or does W/L Apply to the fighter at the top of the page??? Also I have been lookin up the some of the Refs/Judges etc.
If you have any suggestions for me on how to use this knowledge more efficiently along with the other pages which are notes from the 1,789th Meeting of The State Boxing Commission that was held at the office of the the Commission 155 Worth St.. dated Jan. 11, 1946 with Commissioners Edward P.F. Egan etc etc. The back 2 pgs give me lists of Lic#s & Pending Lic#s I would appreciate it. Cheers !!!
